Still no concrete information regarding the content of Necromancy before May 30. However, the ones who have been invited to playtest the full skill like TheRSGuy has already mentioned they will be making a lot of content and will show them as soon as the stonewalling expires on May 30.

Holy moly... Necromancy.

The content will be substantial. :)

I have a strong feeling Necromancy is closely related to the remastering of RS3, or "sort of almost RS4" as Mod Keeper called it.

This is based on what the Necromancy playtesters told us what they are allowed to. For instance, TheRSGuy said they have met all the "top, top, top, top, Jmods" of the company, and the brass told them about their plans of RS3 in the next few years, and suggested what content they expect to see content creators can make for Necromancy.

Not specific to the game content, but looks like we are going to have a World First event in Necromancy:

I guess it is similar to the Zamorak, Lord of Chaos launch event. I don't know if there will be Hiscores though, but at this point I think not.

Anyway, like all the other playtesters invited, Maikeru also said Necromancy is fun, unique and rewarding.

Being fun and rewarding can mean different things to different people, but being unique pretty much tells us Necromancy is not like other skills such as Magic and Summong as Mod Raven has hinted us in January.

I'll go by what TheRSGuy said, Necromancy has content we have yet to see not just in a Runescape skill, but also the entire game the past 22 years.

If we consider the GWD trilogy (GWD, GWD2 and EGW) as the First Book of Runescape, I think Necromancy serves as the first chapter of the Second Book of Runesape. It may also be the rumored Runescape Remastered.

The First Book of Runescape features, of course, Gods, and the Second Book will switch to the remastered Gielinor following the departure of Gods. The focal point will be the "6th Elder God" who is not being recognized as a "god" to Gielinorean gods and mortals except Zaroa. Call it Santan, Devil, Arch-Demon, Shadow or whatever or the 6th Elder God as you like, or just call it Xau-Tak.

Summoning 2.0
But with some kind of bone or essence instead of charms.

Probably just an insanely slow to train money sink skill to keep comped up players to continue playing.

Necromancy is supposed to be dark and mysterious, but knowing Jagex it will probably be handled with kid gloves. It will be silly, non serious, no edge.

Kill mobs -> Collect ingredient -> Go to a necromancy skilling station -> Turn ingredients into product -> repeat 9 gorillion times

Bonus: They might do something Gimmicky, but functionally identical. Like training the skill backwards or something. Go from 200m Exp to 0xp.
It would still just work the same way as every other skill but have the illusion of being unique.

I tip my hat to the RS3 team for concealing every bit of information regarding Necromancy so nicely that even heaps of content creators have already played it but there is still absolutely no leak to the general public. That's the way to keep an important and promising key update fresh at its eventual and eventful release.

I am leaning toward the thought that Necromancy is a general purpose skill a little closer to the combat spectrum. We are going to have a bland new and exciting way to do combat on top of, and totally different from, the magic/ranged/melee combat triangle and Summoning.

One aspect regarding Necromancy I am 100% certain is it is not a minigame pretending to be a Archaeology style skill.

I am 100% correct! Necromancy is a stand-alone combat skill totally outside the magic/ranged/melee combat triangle. This is going to be very exciting. What surprised me a little is even skillers can level all the way to max cap Necromancy through rituals, without even bothering killing a Lumbridge rat perhaps.
