OSRS might be getting a skill called Shamanism - it sounds a lot like Necromancy to me.
The 'spirit realm' seems like an extension of Varrock's 'Dimension of Disaster' quest.
I can't see them adding the same skill with different names, so could that tell us something about Necromancy? Why would they call it Shamanism, seems strange to me. Thoughts?

I don't doubt OSRS is copying RS3 content and ideas. I also don't doubt Shamanism is inspired by, if not copied from the behind the scene work done in the soon to be released Necromancy skill in RS3.

However, Spirit Realm is in the Wildyness, not Varrock. New Varrock is in a totally different dimension from Gielinor. Events occur in the Dimension of Disaster doesn't affect events on Gielinor but events occur in the Spirit Realm have effects on Gielinor. We learned it from the Summer quest series.

Ah OK, that would make more sense. Maybe we'll see what the wilderness was like before it turned into a wasteland then! that'd be cool. Bob says:
A bank PIN will keep your items secure.
Always check the second trade screen.
Never trade in the Wilderness!
Keep your computer keylogger-free and virus scanned.
Never give your password out to anyone.

I think OSRS is just experimenting with the idea of shamanism when they saw RS3 is getting the Necromancy new skill soon. They only have very vague ideas and they don't even know what Spirit Realm looks like:

"We don’t quite know what the Spirit Realm will look like at this early stage. Should Shamanism move through to the refinement stage, we’ll be sure to discuss our ideas with you."
- The OSRS Team

I am also pretty sure most of OSRS's other ideas on shamanism like potent magical items. Incense, Salves, Relics, Totems aren't what we will see in Necromancy, because we have them in the game from other sources in RS3 already.

It's already been mentioned but I definitely think the necromantic focus from arch will be used in some way. Other predictions are that there may be some additional dialogue options with the Necrolord boss in Dungeoneering, maybe a new Fremmenik Saga where we play as the Necrolord too and is tied to a specific Necromancy level to start it. In a similar vein to how OSRS now has Wrath Runes, I feel there is going to be a new rune we can make with the Necromancy skill too. Proud leader of Clan Cadarn

you just lost the game ;)

Necromancy has no requirements other than an introductory quest like Archaeology, so highly likely the former is also free to access to a certain level but actually requires membership to progress through 80% of the new skill content and access the most significant rewards.

Note that all member skills are free to access, or more like free to try, to a certain level in RS3. There are low level training method for every member skill for free players. No reason to think there won't be at least some low level gathering nodes and artisan stations for free players up to certain level.

I remember a long time ago they said elite skill requiring 80 magic prayer summoning

but things prolly changed.

Nothing changed, only that RS3 doesn't want another elite skill.

"And we weren't looking to make an elite skill. I know some people would be like "Why wouldn't you make an elite skill out of those three skills?", and just like... We didn't want this skill to be an elite skill; that was one of our aims."

As Unwelcome Guests will bring us 4 new undead slayer mobs including the phantoms that obviously weren't known to Runescape for over 21 years, it is very likely we are going to know the origins of all those new and old undead.

When a NPC dies, what kind of undead will they become.? What is the difference between a skeleton, a ghost, a zombie, a phantom and perhaps even more new undead upcoming but we have yet to hear about, and what cause them to become a ghost and not a skeleton or a phantom?

I wonder if Malignius Mortifer south of Falador will have the Necromancy skillcape. He's constantly practicing, talked about as a necromancer in multiple quests, and if you examine him it says, 'A master of necromancy!'
