I'm not really sure if the automatic reward drops like Frank's Chest would work for yak. The original idea was to make the tasks so bad we pay to skip them.

The immediate thought is people will just AFK non-stop. On multiple accounts and whatever else.

At the same time we are hoping to hear back from Jagex about an extended timer for inactivity before logout.

TBH I don't personally care either way. At 5 minutes, 10 minutes or all day. If someone is just standing there and paid for premier membership, or have bought yak access with bonds what difference does it make what they are doing and when?

None of my business. Should they get yak rewards for just standing around, as compared to clicking once for xp or in my suggestion clicking a popup?

Does yak even make money compared to the early versions? Maybe it is time to find another, less odorous species to host the event.

It might be a good idea to specifically replace Presents from the Sledge with a system like Frank's. Right now the triple wrapping paper is just stupid overpowered.

The normal rate of wrapping paper is boring. Opening the presents is annoying. There are way too many xp lamps and stars being given out way too frequently.

The cosmetic food items are relentless. They insist on being dealt with.

It's just not good. Imagine being a newer player trying to level up and the game decides you should have millions of xp in any skill you choose.

There is a big difference between that and someone lazily chasing 120's or raising an eyebrow at the thought of 200M and locking in a hiscores ranking.

The xp rewards are the best rewards from this Presents event actually, even I got a rather expensive new Aurora Dye.

I'll like to see some ways to turn the Christmas foods into something more useful, mind it xp or some other useful cooking items.

It probably won't be too much of an effect if they continue to keep you having to perform some vacuum activity like disassembling something once every few minutes or if it just progresses automatically while logged in. Jagex just wouldn't need to fix a shitton of bugs (since some xp awarding action not counting is nothing but that - which they had fixed some of the past), as well as giving players a bit more of freedom regarding what to do (also non-bugged stuff, that just happens to give no xp). It's also basically the same system awarding stuff like christmas paper - both happen at once, so it probably wouldn't make too much of sense to change one, but not the other.

As for commentary - they certainly are putting even less effort into the track for quite some time. The first ones had tons of exclusive rewards, whereas it's just a couple of things each time now. But I guess they just can't keep up by pushing that thing once every 3 months. Seemingly it still works well enough.

As for the chest rewards - BGH already is rather the secondary source for the mattock (since you can obtain it via tetras stemming from the skill itself), just like triskelions would be for the hatchet or the pickaxe. The chest just is temporarily a third one for either dragon tool and while the hatchet isn't super valuable, it's consistent to award them all, I guess. As for the consolation prizes, I do not see an issue they're actually trying to use items you just do not see all the time - sure there also are rather common things in there - but not exclusively.

On the other hand the presents are really a can of worms - rancid to open en masse and tons and tons of mostly to entirely worthless things with a basically unobtainable jackpot. The balloon event was kinda better for that matter. For the presents it probably already would have helped if the titles were tradable.

Lamps and stars are most appealing for mid levelled players - or as you said high levelled ones wanting to push wherever past the level cap, but even with their dynamic scaling, they eventually degrade again due to superior training methods available - good enough to take it with you by the way, but not good enough to actively chase after it. They don't have much of an effect for low levelled ones - sure they basically allow you to jump from level 1 to 2 - but you basically can achieve the very same thing by using that skill for half a minute. You need some dozens of levels in the first place for them to have an actual effect.

But on the other hand it's impressive anyway how parts of the community are attracted by free xp - otherwise something like the dxp just couldn't work four times per year.

All in all - I fully agree with you if they weren't as common, but more rewarding to open. We'll see if frank's chest will be a successful experiment.
