The daily challenges were more enjoyable. Now the daily missions aren't really clear on how much you need to do, you have to do the same skill for the three levels of the mission, and the reward is not as attractive. Overall the hero pass feel like useless content. More uninspired cosmetics....
FYI, Jagex has told us it is no more than 20 minutes for the completion of all 3 tiers of Daily Mission. I was able to complete "Thieving" mission yesterday in about 10 minutes pickpocketing Fally Guards.
Update:
"This means earning all Daily XP from Hero Pass will now take ~15 minutes, half of that if you focus on the bonus progression skill shown on the mission."
So Jagex has officially told us the time needed for daily mission, for those who think it is not clear. Minutes ago, they officially told it will be ~15 minutes, or 7.5 minutes on focus. It will be even faster than the 10 minutes I experienced personally.
"Half of 15 minutes is 7.5 minutes, and for many skills with Daily Challenges we couldn't complete 3 of them in 2.5 minutes each."
wrong wrong wrong.
Firstly, I'm not doing the focused challenge like woodcutting or dungeoneering because I have 200m in those skills already, I'm going to do the one I WANT TO DO.
So you can assume the average player is going to take 15 minutes to do this.
Secondly, Daily challenges only took me 5 minutes to do before, I had prayer, firemaking, and divination.
I could bury 10 bones, and burn 10 logs in 2 minutes. leaving me a whopping 3 minutes to catch 10 wisps and dump them.
LASTLY THE REWARDS ARE STILL OBJECTIVELY WORSE.
-only 66% of the previous experience
-zero TH keys
-barely any hero points
-no weekly rewards like death touch darts

They gotta bring back the ability to toggle off challenges/missions for skills already 99/120 or something. I have general missions for skills I'm already 200mil in and like I'm not gonna do them haha
You only have 3 skills with 200 mil xp, even the lowly me have 8 skills with 200 mil xp. The chance of rolling 3 out of 28 skills in a daily mission is very low.
"So you can assume the average player is going to take 15 minutes to do this."
Good that you are talking about
average player
. Average players aren't going to have many skills with 200 mil xp. Average players may not even had the option to block a daily challenge, so much for comparing yourself to an average player.
Average players or not, plenty of daily challenges can't be done near a bank. We have to hop into an agility course for Agility challenge for instance. It takes plenty of precious minutes just to move around for many skills. More importantly, average players still do D&D, Reaper and such. Even players with 200 mil xp in some skill still do Reapers, clue scrolls and Wildy Flash Events for the rewards. These popular activities will complete daily missions for us too.

I have all skills at 99 and I have like 15 skills at 120, I'm not training them either, and I shouldn't be expected to train past 120 since there is no reward.
The old daily system let you opt out of skills that you maxed out.
I want to focus on firemaking, since it's not 120. Why is it giving me fishing challenges?
It's railroading me to play a certain way, when the previous daily challenge system let me block out stuff I didn't want to do.
and it's also giving me less reward (lamps and TH keys) for playing every day. it's bullshit.
This is a weird update to defend Jagex on, when the entire community is pretty much unified in their hatred of it.

I am not training any skill except Necromancy neither, but I am not an average player AND I still complete Daily Missions doing things like Reaper, Wildy Flash Events, Clue Scrolls, Mining red sandstones and making them into useful and expensive flasks, killing with Necromancy for combat missions etc etc etc.
Nobody railroads me into all these wonderful activities because the rewards and player experience (note not skilling xp) are far more than xp to show on Hiscores.
Two concerns about the recent "HERO PASS - PLAYER FEEDBACK UPDATE #1" post from today:
1) A Moderate player can achieve 99 levels with normal play time. So, that's a minimum of 250 mins (4 hours, 10 mins) of game time a day. Now that doesn't include banking, switching skills, traveling time, etc. So, it's likely closer to at least 4.5 hours (and god forbid you're chatting in game and forget to click to keep skilling or whatever -- those minutes due to inattention also add up).
And, what if you miss a day? Then you have to spread those 4+ hours over other days, or 8+ if you miss 2 days, etc. I find it difficult to believe that many will be able to achieve level 99 with a moderate amount of play (although perhaps we define moderate differently). Many Runescapers are actually adults with families and responsibilities. What a slap in the face these requirements are, tbh. And it falls far short of work/play/balance that I believe you mention from time to time.
2) You spoke a fair bit about the "rewarding" Hero points. Yet with what are we being rewarded? A few buffs? Yes, some of them are nice, IF they apply to how you play the game. But the costume overrides? Why do we need so many ugly armour overrides in this game (that all look fairly similar, frankly)? I realize people mock "fashionscape" but given how few people I see running around in full, ugly armour overrides, do people really like them? I see a lot of overrides being used but most of them are cute or quirky or fun, or people showing off high level armour to flex (and fairplay to them).
So no, a good many of those "rewards" aren't actually very rewarding. What about cute pets? Teleport overrides? Actually cute/fun/quirky costume overrides? Seriously, you need new creative staff if you can only keep coming up with the same things (unless they're doing what they're asked to do so players will spend real life money for the cute/quirky/fun stuff).
