I mean.. there are "live tiles" on my start menu from the Microsoft News, Money, Weather, and XBox apps but... those were there in Win 8 too. I view those as functions of the apps, not ads though.

I do agree with you though, if I did have ads on my start menu... it'd probably be a deal breaker.
