I used to use the Hiscores to make a rough judgement as to how many active players there are in RS3.
Last I recall, all members and all
active
f2p accounts are depicted on the Hiscores. Not sure if this is still the case, but that would give a rough idea of how many players are actively involved with the game. If you check out the current Hiscores, the skills most populated are combat stats with roughly ~1.4m rankings (requiring at least lvl 15 in the skill to place on the Hiscores).
This has always been my personal approach to measuring truly active accounts.
Again, I'm not even sure if inactive f2p accounts are still removed from the Hiscores.
interesting. So that means according to https://mmo-population.com/r/runescape there are more players that play OSRS in a single day than there is a total number of active RS3 accounts.
Really puts things into perspective.
I think we have already proven numbers from this site can't be real numbers, as they don't match anything either on the RS3 and OSRS websites or the official Jagex numbers presented to real world regulators.
According to this website, OSRS has more players online now than any other MMORPG. Go tell the other MMORPGs and acclaimed game critics and let them have a big laugh.
