How do I change my clan's name?

1. Only Clan Owners are able to do this.
2. Go to Clan Camp [south of Falador] and talk to the Scribe to the south.
3. Go through the dialogue, and select the option to rename your clan.

Notes:

• Clan names can only be changed once every 28 days.

• Once a clan's name is changed, the old name becomes available immediately. Unlike player names which display a "last known as" name after a change, there is no system in place which tracks clans' previous names.

• Clan names must not breach the Rules of RuneScape, so you must choose an appropriate name. If your clan’s name is inappropriate, the name will be removed by a JMod, and your clan will be given a default name. You will then be given the option to choose a new clan name, or permanently lose the ability to change your clan’s name.

• It is not possible to change your clan’s name to alter the case of the lettering. If your clan name is “CLAN 123” and you’d like the name “Clan 123,” it isn’t possible to change the name because it will say the name is already taken.

• It is currently not possible to request a clan name from an inactive clan.
Original message details are unavailable.

Hey all,

I will be closing this thread and we will not be offering the ability to request names of inactive clans anymore in the future.

The reasons for this are:
* This is a very time consuming process
* The toolset is not build for this kind of requests
* Within the process of changing name, many things can go wrong. making it a very dangerous thing to do (We can accidentally destroy clans with a single miss click)
* Due to the way our tools work we cannot do this for all clans and this makes it an unfair playing ground.

Our apologies for anyone who comes across this thread at a later date.

Who can assign clan permissions?

Generally speaking, clan members ranked Admin+ can update rank permissions for any rank below their own as long as they have access to the permission themselves. However, there are several permissions which require higher ranks to update.

What clan permissions can be assigned to each rank?

While permissions must be assigned by Admin+ (or higher) ranks, the following permissions may be toggled for each rank:

Recruit: Enter Keep, Enter Citadel, Recruit Members, Lead Rated Clan War, Speak in Clan Chat, Kick Guests from Clan Chat, Broadcast Events from Noticeboard, Start Event on Clan Battlefield, Initiate a Clan Vote, Begin/Invite to Private Meeting, Operate Theatre, Operate Party Room, Edit Clan Battlefield, Check Citadel Resource Contributions of Other Members

Corporal through General cannot be granted any permissions that are unavailable to Recruit .

Admin : Lock Lower Ranks from the Keep, Lock Lower Ranks from the Citadel, Kick Ranks from the Clan, Change Admin Broadcast Settings, Add to the Signpost, Add to the Noticeboard, Mark Citadel Building for Upgrade, Mark Citadel Building for Downgrade, Remove the Avatar Habitat, Choose Resources for Clan Avatars to Gather, Customize Appearance of Clan Avatars, Set Skillplot Locks, Set Gathering Objectives

Organiser and Coordinator cannot be granted any permissions that are unavailable to Admin .

Overseer : Set Citadel’s language, Move Citadel Build Tick

Deputy Owner cannot be granted any permissions that are unavailable to Overseer .

Clan Owner always has access to all permissions

Any rank permissions not listed above cannot be changed.

How do I leave my clan?

If you are a normal member:

1. Click on the Clan Chat tab.
2. At the bottom of the Clan Chat window, click on the icon which says ‘Leave your clan completely’

If you are the Clan Owner:

1. Demote yourself to Admin or below.
2. The highest ranked member in the clan will then become the Owner. You can leave the clan using the steps above.

Important Note : Before leaving as a Clan Owner, decide who will become the next leader, and make that person the only Deputy Owner. This will ensure the Clan Owner position goes to the correct person who can then fix the ranks of any Deputies who were demoted in the process.

If you are the only person in the clan:

1. Enter your Clan Citadel.
2. While inside the Citadel, use the 'Leave your clan completely' button in the Clan Chat window
3. This will disband the clan and permanently delete it.

How do I disband my clan?

This can only be done by the Clan Owner. Disbanding a clan will permanently delete it from the game, so be sure to consider your reasoning beforehand.

If you’re set on disbanding your clan, follow these steps:

1. Open your Clan Chat tab, and make sure you are in the Clan Chat.
2. At the bottom, open Clan Settings
3. You must be the only member of your clan to disband it, so proceed to kick all other members, if there are any.
4. Once you are the only member in the clan, enter your Clan Citadel.
5. While inside the Citadel, use the 'Leave your clan completely' button in the Clan Chat window
6. This will disband the clan and permanently delete it.

Note: If your account is F2P, you don't need to enter the Citadel to disband.

Disbanding Issues

There have been several instances of players having issues when attempting to disband a clan.

These issues can be the result of one (or more) of the following:

1. You are not the Clan Owner
2. You are not in your Clan Chat channel
- All Clan Settings are disabled while not in your Clan Chat
3. You are not the only member in the clan
4. A bug has occurred, which should be reported

I am unable to Kick, Ban or change any Clan Settings – Why?

1. Make sure you have the rank required to make these changes.
2. Make sure you are in your Clan Chat channel.
- If you are not, join the Clan Chat and try again.
3. If the problem persists, this is a bug, so submit a Bug Report.

Why can't Admins+ temporarily kick people from my clan?

There is a temporary kick option for the Clan Chat which can be accessed by right-clicking a player's name while they are in your Clan Chat. However, this temporary kick only works on Guests; you cannot temporarily kick a clan member.

This permission can be assigned to all ranks of your clan.

Note: It is possible to issue a mute to members in your Clan Chat.

How can I remove the kicking permission from Admin+ ranks?

To remove the permission to kick clan members from Admin+ ranks:

1. Go to Clan Settings > Permissions > Admin
2. Select the rank you’d like to remove kick permissions from
3. Uncheck the box in the top right corner

How can I remove the rank-changing permission from Admin+ ranks?
How can I stop Admin+ ranks changing the clan motif, motto and keywords?

At the moment, several permissions cannot be removed from Admin+ ranks.
These include, but are not limited to:
- The abilities to change ranks, the clan motif, motto, and keywords

So, there is currently no way to prevent Admin+ from editing these areas of a clan.

However, it appears Jagex may be working to make these permissions more flexible, so hopefully these issues will be resolved in the near future.

How can I stop clan members from talking in the Clan Chat?

It is possible for all Admin+ members to issue a mute to any clan member who is a lower rank than themselves. Please note that this mute remains active until it is manually disabled, so do not forget to unmute a clan member after issuing a mute.

1. Open the Clan Settings to view the clanmates list
2. Click the arrow to the right of the member you’d like to mute
3. Check the box next to “Mute” and click Save

When a clan member is muted, an icon will appear next to their name in the clan list, and a Clan System Broadcast will send in the chat stating who was muted by whom.

Note: It is possible for Clan Owners to issue a mute to themselves.
