Pretty sure what they mentioned in the system update was the bug where players who didn't 1 hit the birds were saying that they couldn't attack as they didn't have the right weapon or what not. Besides, you completed Big Chompy Bird Hunting the day after that update. :p

Edit: For some free slayer xp go to Lummy and do the Combat Academy thing, and you'll have the option to claim xp tomes from Lady Deathknell after successful completion of each part of the tutorial. I believe the xp is equivalent to a jack of trades book, and you can receive up to 21 of them, 3 for each of the 7 sections. Each of the tomes can be used in any combat related skill, even herb for some reason. There is no xp gained while doing the tutorial.

Speaking of Slayer: Yesterday I needed to finish my Slayer Daily so I hopped to the Taverly Dungeon to the Black Demons hoping to get a few kills. When I killed my first Black Demon, sure I got the usual 1/2 Slayer xp but also the drops. That's right, infernal ashes, charms, and all! I'm guessing there was a little fix to cannoning so getting Summoning charms should resume to normal. (No targetting of course :D )

Secondly: Any idea on which food is better for us now? I've seen that Salmon, Trout, Tuna, Lobster, Shark, and Rocktail only heal 208hp max. Cakes on the other hand heal 69hp per bite, 207 max. I honestly cannot survive Black Demons getting hit 200+ and carrying around salmon in my inventory..

Thirdly: I've been hearing that the QBD doesn't give any combat related xp at all due to a bug. I'm kind of hoping it's intentional since I would love to have a go at the QBD > :D Anyone else know of a few monsters that now give 0xp to anything? Chompies sound like a fun way to relax from skilling so I'm hoping they stay at 0xp.

Lastly: I've got 1 last Instakill Dart. Are there anymore quest bosses I could use it on? I don't want it to go to waste at least.

^ Yes, that's true the QBD didn't give any EXP, but her minions did.
Defeating the QBD without killing the tormented souls is next to impossible without a Yak filled with brews, unless you're a pro at fighting her.

The only food I carried were Saradomin Brews and Gorajian Mushrooms.

Most quest bosses can be defeated without an Instakill Dart.

My first po** about cannon and what not said that you get the drops and half slayer xp even without targeting. :p I believe Saradomin Brews are the absolute best healing for us at 500lp per dose, just tested Gorajian Mushroom and it appeared to heal 347lp.

For the instakill dart, I would try to find something that had to be recoiled in the old system, at least until we figure out a consistent way to make recoils work without gaining xp.

As far as the cannon taking forever to kill things now, I'm in the same boat. It's just not worth it to use that many cballs to get half slayer xp, no ranged xp, and relatively bad drops. I'd have to look at all creatures new hp levels for each slayer master to even consider cannoning again.

Edit: Both new quests, Rune Mysteries and Rune Memories, are doable, they just take some time to do. Got a free mil after doing Rune Memories from the free Pure Ess. at the end at only 75 rc on my main. :p And after doing both on this account I received 20k Ess. at level 90 rc.

Seems I may have found a rather consistent way to recoil without gaining hp xp. this method involves using the Mage ability Chain, while technically you could use all mage abilities. It's rather simple and straightforward.

Optional step: (Reccomened) Relogg to clear any offensive spell you may have cast/selected during that play session.

1. Target your creature. Do not use the attack option to target, use the arrow on the upper left side of the hotbar. Using the attack option will act as if you have selected a spell, making the next step hit.

2. Use the Chain ability. Mage abilities won't give xp/do damage so long as you never select an offensive elemental spell. For some reason as soon as you select a spell to cast that would normally do damage, even without runes on you, the abilities will start to hit. This can be reset by simply relogging.

3. Recoil to death. Just make sure that you actually used Chain on the creature that dies. If this ability wasn't used or it splashed the kill won't count and no xp will be awarded whatsoever, but the drop will show.

That's pretty much the process. As I said before, you can use all mage abilities as long as you never select an offensive spell. I don't know why this works but it just does. Eventually ended up using Tsunami without it hitting for a bit of fun. :p No need to cast confuse or any other curse on the creature, simply casting Chain will agro the creature. This process should be applicable to boss monster that required recoiling before the EoC, however, now they should be much easier to recoil.

If for some reason you do hit you can leave the area to have your target cleared, and the hp of the creature will be fully restored, though I haven't recoiled a creature to death that I had previously done damage to. I'm assuming that since the hp was reset so would the damage you had done to it.

If anyone needs something clarified please, do ask.

Today I became a human tester..
Doing Rum Deal with a cannon gave me some hp xp

If you want to read about it it's just me mini ranting. But overall, do not do some of the combat quests. I believe they are very very glitchy.

Is rather interesting that that gave hp xp, sure you didn't do anything different than usual? May have to get a perm third account to test all these quests out.

I'll give a go at killing a bot in the wildy to test that for ya.

Edit: Edited the first few posts to display that Big Chompy Bird Hunting and RFD: Skrach - the ogre give no hp xp. For RFD: Pirate Pete ASA isn't needed now as drops are given with just recoiling now. Just target using the arrow in the upper left of the hotbar, and cast confuse then recoil. Confuse doesn't even have to be successful, its just used to agro it. I used about 2 brew flasks and about half of a recoil to kill one mudskipper.

Edit 2: There appears to be no bots in the wildy, so I can't really test it that way.

Oh no no, it was probably my fault because EoC was definitely ready for the live game. They didn't need to test out the quests, who would of cared? I made sure I didn't target and even looked at the Combat tab to make sure.

I submitted a bug report, but what good would that do I guess... Wait, so are you saying (again) that Chompies and now including the Ogre in RFD gives no hp xp what so ever? :p I guess I can finally finish the other parts of the quest now then.
