xcoolguy12x - Definitely.

ARedDragon - Thanks, and hope you're managing fine after being scammed.

Mystic Cub - Yeah, in the worst case scenario however, unfortunately, it can possibly become a scam.

Congratulations on the sticky.
I just read through your entire guide, thanks for posting all of this, as I've almost fallen for quite a few of them. I didn't read I think post 25 and on, but I have a question to anyone who can answer it. Did they update it so that the masks that were worth more in trade than they were in the Grand Exchange are now displayed as equally valued during trades?
Not sure what the masks are called sorry. Anyway, thanks again for all the help. :)
Happy posting!

Nice guide, very informative and clear :P

Perhaps also mention about the scam about players selling items made my famous players such as Zezima or SUMOI. An example of that would be 'Selling black dragonhide made by Zezima 1m!' I have come across that several times.

Just got scammed earlier this morning. Rather simple system someone can fall into. Care.

Trying to make some money, I was looking for people trying to buy items past the Grand Exchange trade limit. I'm speaking of things such as Logs and Runes which you can only buy 25000 each every 4 hours. Figured I would buy the 25000 of said item for the player, he/she would pay a small amount over. Win/Win for both players.

What ended up happening though, was someone asked for an odd item I have never seen or heard of. "Antlers". The scammer told me he was looking to buy 10 of them, as he was "Past his trade limit" apparently. Again, I knew nothing of the item and I'm looking to make some quick cash. He says they won't sell for anything less than 10k each. I then bought the 10 antlers, lost that 100k, and tried to sell them to him. He disappeared and I was left with, as I realized afterwards, about 500 gold in merchandise for 100k.

Long story short, the scammer sets an item at a ridiculous price and convinces another player that he can't buy any more due to a trade limit. Thinking you will get your return on said item, you buy them and lose money since the other person won't follow through with their side of the deal.

I don't know if this is a reportable offense or not. You convince another player to pay too much for something, then don't follow up on the trade.

Yes... I'm a ******* xD After looking back at the whole situation, I could have looked up the item firsthand, decided to deal in a more known item, or just sensed the scam and ignore it.

These scams do happen. They actually happen faster than you think, and can grow out of control quickly if you aren't careful.

Bionic, wow, what a great job. typo's missing info...bleh at least ppl are nice enough to help fix the small things. I have just started reading and using forums in the last week, I have played for over 6 years or so and can not believe what I have missed rofl. Since my knowledge may be considered ancient lol, I was scammed very early on in playing RS by the "Spinning Disk scam", did I add I was very new to the game at the time lol. I am not sure if it still exists but if so it would be handy to include as it is very effective on new players who do not really have some one to ask :) The same person who scammed me had actually hung out with me for a few days, thought they were really nice, when he was trying to get my items for the scam, I even let him look at everything in my bank, I know, I know, I was the best noob ever, if some one gets a giggle out of this, great my job is done to make someone smile today.

I am also wondering, at the risk of sounding really naive...what does "bump" mean? I see it said everywhere( I would request ppl not to laugh at me but what the heck, it is free entertainment I hope some do get a smile or giggle). I learned so much over the last hour on this thread. Answered so many questions, I am truly grateful to you and everyone who is helping in this thread to make our game a little bit safer :) Have a great day all!! and again THANK YOU !!
