Q: Best time to catch you on RS?-(Please include your time zone.)
A: I work in an office, and typically have the game running as a background task as I try to get done whatever it is that the poor people in my building pay me to do. So, that would be 9:30am to 5pm EST on weekdays - and, unless I time out because somebody distracts me with work, I'd be checking things out every 5 minutes or so. That aside, I also play at night from around 10:30pm to Midnight. (Also in EST. Although I'd like to say that I jet-set around the world, and change time zones accordingly, sadly, that isn't the case.) And if you can't get me online, I'll be checking this thread also.

Well helloooooooo Nohzen!

I have to say in my 6+ (oh my Guthix, almost 7?!?! What's wrong with me?!?!) years of leading AESOP, I've never had an application that made me 'lol' with delight! My fellow AESOPs can tell you that I myself can be a bit wordy at times. And now there's another person that likes words as much as myself? Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Ok, so here is the standard poo poo:
Hello Nohzen, I've accepted your application.
Please join us in our clan chat (Aesop) so that we can get to know you and vice versa. And please check out our home thread; Quick find code: 90-91-964-59722844

~~~~~~~~ AESOP Clan Chat Rules ~~~~~~~~
1. Follow all of Jagex's rules. (i.e. no 'personally intimate' discussion, no racial discussion, & no swearing.)
2. No political discussion.
3. No religious discussion.
4. Permission from a Councilor or Chat Mod is required before you bring a friend into chat. You are responsible for your friend's behavior in chat.
5. Rude, obscene, all caps, or any otherwise obnoxious Display Names will not be tolerated in AESOP chat.
6. Exercise patience. AESOPs tend to be busy players so if your inquiry is not immediately answered, please be patient and take the time to ask again.
Now that we got that out of the way....
Q: Do you understand that we ask that you to
a - attend at least one event/gathering a month whenever possible?
b - spend time in aesop clan chat so that we may all get to know each other?
c - attend at least one meet & greet or event during your 30 day trial?
a & b - participating in an event or gathering once a month "whenever possible" ascertains whether or not you are truly committed to AESOP. However, with the use of clan chat, this isn't necessarily the best way for some people to show their commitment. Participating in clan chat works just fine. The "whenever possible" allows for different schedules, family, friends, etc. We are pretty flexible on this sort of thing.
c - we do ask that you do your best to attend at least one gathering/event during your 30 day trial. I suggest attending one of our weekly gatherings at the citadel on Saturday evenings; we've been doing this since day one of AESOP. This is the "meet & greet" or as we call it "m&g" referred to in c. Our m&g is not mandatory but many AESOPs enjoy meeting up in the game once a week and chatting um, 'in person', as it were. Sometimes there are 3 AESOPS at the m&g, sometimes there are 15-20. And we try and do an event afterwards. (Again, it is never mandatory.)
I can almost see you flinching over the words "committed to AESOP". Frankly, AESOP isn't for everyone. Sometimes, we are a little too laid back for some people. Some people struggle with our rule of keeping the talk in clan chat 'pg'. (More on that later.) Please don't be alarmed by the word commitment; those that are comfortable in cc have no problem with it, and those that aren't don't stay with us. That's why the 30 day trial is for both the applicant and the group; it really does help to determine if AESOP is right for you and vice versa.
About us being 'pg' in cc; some go as far as to call us "prudish". But those AESOPs that have been with us for years find our cc to be a bit of a haven from all the nastiness spewed by some players ingame. Most of our applicants find it a relief, also. And yes, we do take it to some extreme, requiring the use of "roflmbo" instead of "roflmao" or "omgosh" or "omguthix" as opposed to "omg". Am I that much of a prude personally? Oh hell no, I'm the daughter of a sailor and married to a hippy-drummer. I can cuss with the best of 'em! But you won't see that in cc. (Now in 'my office'.... snicker.)
Quote: "You say, "Attendance at a minimum of one event or meeting per month or on-going participation in our clan chat to remain active." Check. Monthly attendance or chat participation. (The voice in my head tells me that the "or" means I can get away with just the latter.)" - Exactly!
Quote: "...the rules are what they are and it's really this application form that's a clever foil to see just how perceptive and flexible people are when faced with uncertainty and change. If so, let me say, "Well played!" " <----- Yah, that! :P
Yup, I really do have an office. All AESOPs know there is a plate of cookies on my desk. And some AESOPs suspect that there are whips and chains in the closet. So if you hear some suspicious bangings and screaming coming from my office while you are in cc, never mind....
Looking forward to meeting you!
Ahma
Nohzen,
This is definitely the best clan out there. All of the members are respectful, and very nice! You will love it with AESOP :-) Also, you've got Ahma Lyra as your leader! OMG(gosh) ; )
Ahma, you're very welcome! Glad I can help out! :3
" I've never had an application that made me 'lol' with delight!"
High five! ;)
"Also, you've got Ahma Lyra as your leader!"
I think the name change was to avoid tax collection. "Ahma Lyra? No, I have no idea who you're talking about... I'm Ahmahgerd, I'm sure you're just confused. Try the hut down the path." If I weren't totally tired right now, I'd get into the clan chat - but, as it is, I probably wouldn't say anything clever. (That last one did me in.) So, I'll check everything out tomorrow. :)
"And please check out our home thread; Quick find code: 90-91-964-59722844"
I tried that. I got "Thread was not found." (You're probably snickering in the background because I fell for your equivalent of the old "get me a left-handed hammer" prank.)
