The Conquest of Prifddinas
Though the legions of Isadarin launched a furious counter-attack to retake Isafdar, it was all in vain. Their legions were largely untrained conscripts which neutralized their home field advantage. The widespread territory of the Kingdom meant that it took too long to marshal enough forces to meet NXG full on. The force was quickly beaten back, and the Noxious Gladiators and their Elven allies chased the royalist forces back to the crown jewel of the Kingdom of Isadarin: Prifddinas.
Legatus Zaire, commander of the I Tirannwn Legion, knew that it would be a calamitous siege at best. Though the force of Gladiators, augmented by the Ardougne heavy infantry corps, Paladin-class light infantry, and Rogue Elves, was an imposing force so, too, was the city of Prifddinas. Its gleaming white towers seemed to claw at the sky, and with no way to scale its immense walls there seemed to be no recourse but years of waiting and bloody attempts at entry.
Yet all was not lost. With Isafdar soundly in the hands of the Gladiators, and Arandar pass blocked off, the city's days were numbered. Its gentry had become decadent in the previous decades, and they trembled at the thought of losing everything. Isadarin itself was also politically unstable, with more of its myriad peoples rebelling against the central government.
Legatus Zaire decided to use that fear to his advantage. Using magic to amplify his voice across the entire metropolis he bellowed out the following statement: "
When I lead my troops against Prifddinas, even if you hide in the sky or the earth I shall not leave one person alive in your realm, and I shall put your city to the torch!"
When word got back that few reinforcements could be spared due to the various rebellions sprouting up, general Exitium Deus of the Priffddinas City Guard opted to surrender. Every citizen was given 72 hours to pledge fealty to Ardougne or leave. The Gladiators had won.
