Same arguments have been going on for years, with the same logic on both sides. Back when I was active in quark this was dreadfully frustrating, in that people always expect a system to be perfect. A system like this cannot reach perfection, you have to take the lesser of the evils and use your own discretion.

That being said, being able to skim this thread now and then when I'm bored or procrastinating painful studying, it's been thoroughly enjoyable to be able to look in and laugh at it all, knowing I don't have to deal with this **** every day. Going inactive in quark has been one of the best decisions I could've made for my own sanity, no ragrets.

Deuces.
Stay happy.

I agree a perfect system is unlikely to ever happen. But a small amount of common sense would go along way. The current system just isnt working anymore. Providing prices that are often several hundred mil out even at the extreme ends of the range just isnt really useful at all.
This is only going to become more of an issue if more discontinued items continue to go above max cash and well beyond as they become more scarce.

I'd be okay with trying this, every new system gets criticism, but the current method has also been having problems. I think it would be better if I knew the market better as I am rarely even in world 2 looking at phat prices. Not having people informed while having these discussions may cause the prices to easily be manipped based on that days amounts of buyers/sellers or troll/fake offers.

An open discussion when setting the prices would put information on the table so that even if you dont happen to agree with the new prices exactly you would still be more informed.

I think the long term strategy on the "Phat ranges" is now well established absolutely no need to re litigate it. We keep talking about it even though very good ideas have been brought forward, never do anything about it, until eventually we are no longer relevant, no one puts any stock in our "ranges", no one uses our chat for them, and we can finally put to rest "what we should do about it" once its to late.

@ Lyra: FYI, these are the updates I was talking about that the fc is missing out on by rejecting them. All 100% legit and timely. Quite a few in the last couple weeks on V 31.

V 28

V 29

V 30

V 31

That's a lot of legitimate updates to be tossing out...

Original message details are unavailable.
how does one come to that white range using those prices? Seemd more weight was given to the older trades than the most recent to me.

So mix of most recent old and the new ones to have a sufficient sample size it sounds like. Kind of like running updates if I'm understanding properly.
Posting here to avoid breaking forum rules.

As of two weeks ago, we update ranges when either: 9-10 confirmed trades are reported, or when 3 confirmed trades fall outside of the existing range. If (in the latter case), we do not have many trades to use, we will re-use some old trades to (as Dardad says) get a sufficient sample size.

So when white was updated the trades used were:
New: 4600, 4960, 4885, 5000
Old: 4375, 4530, 4462,5, 4440, 4650

(Range decided was 4600-4950.)

On that topic, I'm feeling that this new range updating procedure is going really well. Quark ranges aren't outdated for long, and seem to follow the same prices as other sources such as Alessde, Warped and Charm. Andy Murray to win Wimbledon 2022.
