Prior to the rules change this was not possible because duplicate threads were not allowed, so there could not be two different threads that both discussed the prices of discontinued rares. Now, technically, this would be allowable.
But now you must question what would be the result? You can't prevent people from posting on a thread as the forums are public and anyone may post on any thread they would like (with a few very rare exceptions, but no reason to get into those). If we were to create a separate thread, inevitably other posters would comes to the other thread and post their prices as well, because they are perfectly within their rights to do so. It would do no good to have two separate threads with the same problems. One thread is a big enough headache for the mods already.
