I'm a little shocked that no one else finds it absurd to wager land.... Since when does an Attacking army stop at the enemy border and offer their land as token should the attack fail? If the battle were a grudge match to decide who the strongest was, I would understand, but this concept during a waged war makes absolutely no sense to me at all.
