WE-Dancing with Death

The blood colored moon hung high above Sophanem. It was eerily quiet in the city. The plagued citizens were on their boats heading to safer lands. Most of the city guards waited for the signal to begin the trap that was set for the mummified horde.

A whistle pierced the desert air and on cue, the guards released the barricades on the pyramids within the city. Cannons were pointed towards the entrances and the guardsmen waited. Ridley’s men were in position to take the horde head on. Yami Eternal’s minions surrounded key points within the city.

Cain watched from the balcony of his room. Citizens that had not made it out in time where huddled in the nearby room afraid of what the night was to bring.

A white light pierced the sky and reached to the moon. Divinus must have completed the ritual successfully. The white light bathed the city of the dead in a brilliant glow. It had begun…

Onboard a ship set for a safe island somewhere in the Arc…

The crowd grew impatient. They were not used to long travels on the seas and most of them had bouts of sea sickness. The plagued people of Sophanem clustered together in the bottom of the ship.

A young child sat by himself with his face hiding under his arms as he rested. Another of the city’s citizens came over to him and sat “Are you ok?” She asked…No response…He seemed to be having trouble breathing and she heard a raspy noise come from him. “Hey, are you ok?” She asked again and shook his shoulder.

He looked up at her with blood red eyes and his decaying face showed no emotion. She screamed in terror as he attacked her with no remorse. There was no escaping the horde now. The citizens, weak but strong in spirit, bound together and faced the zombie children before succumbing to their own illnesses and wounds. The ship was damned and the island locals had no clue…

Restless in Gielinor

Rnoy hovered over April's bedside, his brows furrowed with worry. Since she went unconcious once more, she'd been feverish, and stricken by nightmares. With the young woman being the only apparent adept healer within the tower, he could only call upon outside assistance.

"Archmage Neverwinter, I am here." A strong woman's voice would cut through April's incoherent murrmurrs. Rnoy spun around and looked at the woman, a faint bit of relief washed over him. "Ariane, 'tis good you could make it." "Yes, quite. Due to what has been happening around the world, it be best that I put my powers to good use."

Moving to April's side, the woman would place her hand upon the girl's forehead. Closing her eyes, she would begin to mutter an almost harmonic incantation. Within minutes, April would calm, and her color would return.

"What did you do?" Rnoy's brow arched as he stared between the two. "Lunar Magic... I studied under the Oneiromancer herself for a brief time."

"Fascinating..." He would bow his head, "Thank you for helping her... We need her safe." "Yes, I can only imagine two reasons why the Archmage would take such special interest in an underling." Rnoy stared at her, waiting for her to further that explanation, but it never came. "Speaking of which... Sedridor...?"

"I sent him, aswell as a few others, to check on the undead in the first tower... I figured you did not wish to bump into him." "Ah, I thank you for that... 'tis probably best he doesn't know I was here."

"Before you go, though, Ariane, I ask a favor of you, and I know I hold no place to do so, but this is very important." "I will do it to the best of my ability." "The other holds throughout Gielinor, they were doing rituals of the same diagram as we did... I must know that they were a success."

"I see..." Her gaze fell to the floor, her eyes moving as if searching for something, her lips moving as if she were discussing her thoughts with herself silently. After several minutes, her eyes met Rnoy's. "I shall."

"I thank you." Rnoy moved to a table with a map of where each of the ritual points were supposedly located, Ariane following to his side. "These are the ones that I know of from what I've heard from the others. I might not leave this tower very often, but my mages do keep me posted as best they can." He grinned over to her, to which he only recieved a stoic stare. "Alright... Well as you can see.. the swamplands have proceeded to place three... I feel this should be your first destination... Artemis Bloodsbane has a number of demonic critters who are assisting him... you can see why I'm worried.."

"Hmm, yes that does cause for issue... demons have never been the easiest to work with... for some that is." There seemed to be a cockiness in her voice but Rnoy ignored it. "Very well. Take this map with you. I would assume that the lodestone network should still work..." "Lodestones... Really?" "Right.. sorry.." Ariane would take the map from him and place it in her satchel before vanishing in a cloud of magical dust.

Sighing, Rnoy returned to April's side, who was resting soundly. "You have a long future ahead of you..." He would sit down and stare out the window at the moon, which was unfortunately, still shone of crimson.

With Every Last Breath

Grasping at the crumbling stone floor, Zidrisa would grumble and grunt, grinding her remaining decayed teeth. "What... is happening..." She glanced over her shoulder in the room with the others; there was no further movement. She was alone.

Continuing her journey, she could feel herself growing weaker, the flesh scraping from her fingers as she dug in deep between the stones. She felt a tug from behind, and looked to see that with that last pulle, she had literally pulled herself apart... her legs, however useless before, were now no longer a part of her. She would faceplant and mutter into the stone.

After several long moments of muffled cussing, she would look up, "Well.. less weight I suppose..." She would continue her journey.

It seemed like hours to reach the staircase. Along the way she had to manuver over rubble, broken furniture, and other very much dead mages. All the while, looking for any other signs of life, to which she did not find.

Slumping herself against the bottom step, Zidrisa looked over the carnage of her brethen. "Maybe some made it out..." "Some tried." A rough old voice muttered behind her. She spun her head around as much as her flesh would allow to see an old mage, with several younger mages behind him. "You're the elder Archmage!"

"Oh ho ho, you remember me?" Sedridor would sit down next to the animated corpse, to which the followers would mutter back and forth, more than likely about how disgusting that must be, he figured. "Yes, you and the Archmage... Something about Winter, addressed us when we returned."

"Archmage Neverwinter, yes. This is astonishing..." "What is...?" "Well from our reports of all the other holds throughout Gielinor... they have only been encountering hostile 'Arisen'.. yet here I am.. talking to you as if.."

"'Arisen?'" Zidrisa tilted her head. "So.. so we are all undead..." "Well yes.. well you are.." Sedridor looked around, "They're all dead dead again." He snickered at his own joke, which abruptly ended with the glare and growling from the corpse mage. "Sorry.. a little dark humor..."

Unamused, but not taking the bait, Zidrisa continued, "What happened to us? What caused us all to..." "Get dead dead?" The old man smirked, unable to contain himself, "Yes well... a ritual of sorts... As I said.. most of your kind have been unpleasant around the rest of the world, putting the living in very much harms way. We recieved word that you were only awaken to power a spell of sorts..."

She glared at the floor for several moments before turning back to him, "Well did it at least work?" "Obviously not." He motioned to her, "Otherwise." "Right...."

"Welp," Sedridor would stand and dust off his robes, "Can't very well leave you down here.. I believe you'll be crucial to us... maybe even helping in locating the source of all of this..." She tilted her head, "How am I suppose to do that..?" "Well whatever magic was used to awaken you.. is running through you right now."

"I'm not going to like this.. am I?" "Well you could stay down here and rot with your friends." A convincing enough statement for the undead... Sedridor's followers however, were less happy, as they had to carry the remains of the green mage back to the new tower.

The thread is
updated.

The amount of activity we've had in the past few weeks due to the latest world event is fantastic! I love seeing everyone's characters come out of the woodwork.

I know it's not Thanksgiving yet (though some department stores would disagree with me) but I'd like to give thanks to Artemis for getting this whole thing started.

Let's all make sure that we give this event the best conclusion that we can!

**ThIs is prequel to what happened before Divinus completed the ritual**

“KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN YOU DULT!” Ridley with one clean swipe took down a mummy from the waist.

A scrawny menaphite guard was frozen in fear with a spear in hand. With anger in her eyes, Ridley violently shook the young guard by his shoulders. “You either fight or return back to the barracks in disgrace knowing that you did nothing to protect the people here.”
At the same moment a blast of magic was felt behind Ridley. Cain with his scepter gripped smirked, “Looks like you have to be more careful” . Ridley grinned and went back to the battle.

The Jalsavrah Pyramid was severely damaged with the doors blown out. Hordes of mummies were spilling out and all of Sophanem has been a battleground. Cannons were booming on the walls of Sophanem blowing up swathes of undead. All was going according to plan as the minions that Yami had sent began taken down enemy undead without pause, written runes placed by Divinus were being triggered as the undead began to approach Menaphos, setting them on fire as they got close to the bridge.
“Is that damn ritual done yet!” Cain was visibly tired, and Ridley landed next to him with here dual swords in hand who as well was exhausted.

Ridley said panting, “We should easily keep them back while he finishes the ritual, also I have some bad news to tell you Cain” Cain raised his eyebrow but before he could respond, the light of the Crimson moon could be seen on the desert sands. Everything that could go wrong began going wrong.

**Current Time**

After the glow, the aftermath can be seen. The undead was…well…. Dead dead. The ritual on the Grand Pyramid was shining brightly as Divinus descended back to the ground. Ridley dropped her swords on the ground while Cain stood there shocked.
“So… what was the bad news?” he said this blankly to Ridley as he just stared at the gates that were a few seconds away from collapsing.

“Prifddinas…it’s being overrun. From what my agents tell me… they did the wrong ritual.”
Cain stood there shocked at the news, but it was to get worse.
“Also, the plagued citizens… they were set to sail at a charted island… however, it seems an undead child was aboard… I’m afraid they are all dead.”

The expression on Cain’s face was of pure horror. The sands were red with blood and of the crimson moon. The city is safe for now but, so much is going wrong.
Cain, Divinus and Ridley ran to the Grand Pyramid, all bloodied from the battle in Sophanem. The news was quickly reaching from all the other kingdoms from how the rituals went. One worried them beyond belief. An agent of the death lotus and the shadows of blight confirmed that the ritual at Prifddinas was done wrong. Completely different markings were used and instead of repelling the undead, it had mutated them.

“This is not good, you realize that the blame can be pointed towards us?” Divinus placing his staff on his back.

The golden doors opened, and Dayan was at the entrance, a mummified pharaoh of past on the ground.
“Apparently they buried a Pharaoh of old in the throne room…” he set his staff against the door.

Cain step forward and repeated what was told to him by Ridley, her agents and his own spies.

Dayan’s eyes briefly glowed blue with anger and it settles back down. “I received word from them a few days ago that they received the ritual. I responded back in kind wishing them well. Now they will believe that we somehow had a hand in this!”
Ridley frowned and stepped forward, “It must have been tampered with then. Perhaps someone from within? I see no reason why they would do themselv...or maybe…but why, and why now of all times when the undead are after everyone!”

Cain Interrupted, “We should try to aid them! We must show that we had no hand in this. We can worry about who did it later.”

“And how do propose to do that! Sailing there with soldier? Soldiers that we require here!” Divinus then approached the mummified former Pharaoh

Dayan grabbed his staff once more, “I do know of one way, but I must meditate in peace.”
Ridley and Cain looked at each other confusingly and looked back at him. As Cain opened his mouth, Ridley interrupted, “There is one other thing… the plagued citizens that were sent to the charted isle… they are dead… I had ship following far behind. When they caught up, they found zombified children and the others were dead. There were no survivors. I am so sorry.” She quickly stepped back.

Dayan gripped his staff hard, “This chaos…must…end.”

He rushed off to a small shrine room with shrines dedicated to different gods. He went towards the one dedicated to Seiryu and began meditating.
In his mind everything fogged off and he heard a familiar voice.

“You call to us once again mortal? We have made clear to you that you may have dominion of our island, but you have no command over us… however, we have been sensing a strong disturbance being caused by the crimson moon above.”

In his mind he replied, “The undead are rising and something has gone wrong in Prifdda-“
The dragon quickly interrupted, “And what business do we have there!? We flew there once out of necessity, why must me go again?” the snarling began ringing in Dayan’s ear.
“Well not just Prifddinas but Witchaven and Morytania as well. There have been enough deaths, reinforcements from above can help. The arc seems safe at the moment, but I cannot risk this affecting the Arc as well.”

“Hmmmm, very well. My brothers will aid these regions against the undead… you owe us Dayan… for this is now the second the time” the fog then disappeared from his mind.
Back at Aminishi, nine Anagami dragons flew out of the temple and split up into three groups and began flying toward Morytania, Prifddinas, and Witchaven.

At the same time,
Dayan sent hawks to directly send word to all three regions without stop where the rituals failed or was not performed of the arrival of the dragons.
