No... umm. You wouldn't be forced into the spirit realm just because you're doing a quest. You will just be able to travel to the quest locations via the spirit realm. There'd be a portal in Edgeville, maybe, or Summer herself standing there... the portal system should still be the only means of getting in and out of the Spirit Realm.

However, it's a case of PKers wouldn't get to kill them either way - it's going to be relocated, so it's not going to be in the wilderness either way. Also, PKers would still have all their old targets - green drags, miners, etc. :P

Ooh, I just thought! The return of Law Running. :D

It might be that you can only be taken to the spirit realm if you're carrying certain items.

If you're holding item X and you cross the wilderness ditch, you're transported to a different dimension.

That could work too. :)

Wow, I suggested the spirit realm idea and it's not blowing over well. For reasons like "I want the Wilderness sooner, not having Jagex faff around over stuff like this" or "It's too complicated".

I don't really see how a location suggestion is complicated. :P

"Things like Stealing Creation and Clan Wars could have an escort in Edgeville who'll teleport you to the arenas so has to avoid PKers just hanging out around them waiting for people wanting to play. Clan Wars is too big to be relocated, but I suppose Stealing Creation could if worst comes to worst."

Its not the 'danger' that I believe that would get them relocated, its the 'safe spots' they introduced.
The wilderness volcano, stealing creation and clan wars added tremendous amount of safe area to the wild that is not really 'compatible' with the old system. Pkers of old ranted on how safe the wild was, leaving all that there will most likely lead to more [valid] rants on that topic.

as for escorts, not needed, clan wars and volcano have a teleport, stealing creation prohibits items so there is no need to bring any in.

As far as being 'too big' to relocate, meh...there is a lot of potential to relocate those things. If not new areas, lack luster cities/areas could benefit from having them.

the fault, and i may have missed this addressed since i skimmed, with the spirit world idea is that the wild quest took place in both, you have to leave and do something in the 'normal' world then go back to see how it affected things in the spirit world. wouldn't your idea suggest a spirit world inside a spirit world?

Hello! For those who have returned, most suggesters have long quit or gone inactive because Jagex has not really ever shown much interest in suggestions, and it seems to have gotten much worse with the forum split.

Moreover, they've ignored numerous threads describing the reason for the loss of so many good threads and ideas. (And by ignored, I mean they replied saying that they don't think it's a problem.)

So we do some suggesting, but the forums have a fairly weak community now and we mostly just keep to ourselves. :P

EDIT: My "spoils" are (possibly) the 5 minute logout timer and the dwarven traders in Keldagrim. :P

Do you know how edgeville used to be called "ghost town?"

What if there was a thousand-year-old method there of entering the spirit world, like an old portal or a switch? Activating it would instantly convert your world into the spirit world; an instance-version of runescape's wilderness and perhaps varrock and edgeville.

The effect of being in the spirit world would be that you could not see or interact with real-world characters or perhaps even most npc's; but instead you'd be able to see the revenent* that currently occupy the wilderness, as well as interact with quest-related wilderness hotspots. :p.

To return to the regular world, you'd have to interact with the same switch or portal, or another like it wherever you might need one for the quest.
