anyway,
most of the hate about the EoC originated when it first came out, when the combat was, in a word, dreadful. like all forms of forum hate, it echoed across the rs community getting more and more distorted to the point that people weren't willing to participate in the beta because they assume it was bad at the start so therefore it will be bad now.
the auto retaliate damage has been increased and the ultimate ability, momentum, was added to help aid the people who like the option to afk and/or do casual combat. But momentum can never become a competitive alternative to using the other abilities because the general consensus of the rs community is that afk can never be more efficient than attention, by efficient i include profitmaking.
a combat example for this would be abyssal demons. at the time of the whip being the best and highly valued, these low defence, relatively easy to kill monsters could be killed with focus but can't be afk'd because they aren't aggressive.
please don't be the ones who quit over a beta
it is still open to change and change has happened continually, it has been updated and improved a lot. the ability interface is friendlier for one, its a lot like the current magic interface we have now.
also with the task/quest system update this month, we may see an interface free to separate the ability book from the magic book or the combat xp selector from the effects and weaknesses viewer.
just keep in mind that it isn't feasible to just say revert it, it is a massive change to the status quo and will take some getting used to especially with the idea of steering away from afk'ing but i think that it will work in the end, i myself find the interactive combat more immersive when i want to dg and boss (yes even i am open to bossing with this system) but also like the afk side to it when i just want to relax and such.
