Interesting point that I hadn't thought of:
you could even turn it back on the moment the boss is found, if you really want to.
But, as has been said, it's a tool to determine critial path. Once the boss is found, the critical path has been determined. "Turn it off till the boss is found, because it helps us find the boss faster, after boss is found, do what you want" seems like a sensible thing to do. It enables appropriate ragers/pots to be made in a timely fashion.
I can't give a good reason why I hate turning experience share off. I don't need or care about the experience I get in other skills, I don't even care if I die in the dg and lose experience. For me, it's just something those ranting, raving, rude rushers do and I don't want to play like them.
Personally, I like that as a compromise, because it makes it clear that this is being done for a reason.
