Why did Lyra create V43? Isn't Trips the owner now?

Lyra said "I am pleased to announce that Trips will be taking over my position as leader of R Quark, effective June 1st."
The thread is an entirely different entity from the FC. Yes, there has always been a very close association between the thread and the FC, but the thread is not the property of the FC. I'm not privy to what arrangement Trips and Lyra made, but it's Lyra's right to treat the FC and thread as separate "property" IMO.
There could certainly be benefits to the FC for Trips to also have ownership of the thread, but it's not like it takes a lot of tending by the thread owner...just the FMods.
Maybe it's just too hard for Lyra to let go of it all, all at once? In any case, it's her decision whether or not to hold onto the thread, and I don't see it written anywhere that she said that she was turning it over to anyone else.

If you remember correctly, there was a post on page 2 of v42 that said 'I give trips permission to recreate the thread upon completion.'
That's likely why pop was confused.
Yeah I did see that but honestly didn't take it as transferring the thread entirely. I thought it was more like what she did last summer giving Charm permission to make new threads as necessary while she was at camp.
P.S. - I was a bit surprised too, but you and Lyra have been working cooperatively together for years. I'm sure all will be fine.

@fc and cc facilitators; Can we be less strict/rough on new people; lately I've seen ranks/veterans being pretty mean or annoyed with people still inexperienced. Both chats should be more friendly in general. If people don't understand rules or w/e try pming them instead of kicking when still trying to learn fc stuff. Ranks have turned too kick happy lately (in fc) especially with rank conflicts. If you have a conflicting offer should ask for exact to be sure they're reporting right or a time frame before kicking.

@Trips Agree, we should be nice.

We need a like button for forum posts. I've been a long-time proponent of a kinder, friendlier FC (and CC) and I'm happy to see you addressing it.
This has been and ongoing problem and I think it has a lot to do with the number of hostile attacks the FC gets. When ranks are irritated and on-guard from spammers, trolls and manips I think they're more likely to be rude and to kick etc. Also, sometimes it's not easy to tell the difference between someone who is inexperienced and someone who is just trolling.
Personally I think the FC could make greater/more effective use of the ban option for players who disrupt the FC rather than putting them on KOS. Maybe you have...idk, but it always seemed silly to me to be kicking the same players over and over. Yes I know there is a limit to the number of players you can ban, so I'd suggest reviewing your ban list and attempting to maximize it's effective use if you haven't done so already.
