Oh come on, you're naming features that have been available on fansites since they were made. Just compare RSOF with Zybez, Tip.It or even regular Zetaboards forums and you'll see a huge difference in quality. RSOF is really far behind in functionality.

Your assumptions about offsites are mostly false. There are less adds on most clan's forum than on the RuneScape website. Ofcourse I use adblocker (disabled for the RS site), so it doesn't bother me anyway. When it comes to premium features, there are some but not that many and they are often not required at all. While on RS you have to pay 7$ to have a personalized avatar, which is a free feature on any other forum. Security is fine, it's not hard to protect those forums. The only risk is people with insecure passwords, which has not much to do with the safety of offsites.
Even if the official RS forums would have more options I wouldn't even use it for a blue partyhat. We like to decide ourselves which content is appropriate for our community, instead of having to deal with the RS rules made for players from every single culture with different standards. Also, the "not advertising any other websites" is bad for clans. It's in place to protect people who don't understand internet security. Jagex has to protect players, but it severely limits us as well. Since we don't need that protection, we choose to use offsites.

This is probably the attitude which stops us from getting improvements in general, every aspect of a game should be created to it highest possible quality not just overlooked so you can concentrate on another half baked update or feature. This games biggest flaw really.
It's about priorities. Eventually every part of the game has to have the highest possible quality, but a huge proportion of RuneScape scores far below the quality mark. When you want to make a great zoo, you don't start with the toilets. For clan forums there are plenty of alternatives, while in the RuneScape game the only alternative is to not use a certain piece of content. I totally agree that the games biggest flaw is ignoring all the bad parts, but if they started to fix what's broken they'd be busy for years as it has become a huge pile now.

i know it's about priorities and i know there have been plenty priorities before this update. But the forums has been outdated since AUGUST 2014! 2 years of nothing is not just "no-priority" it's just shoving it aside.

And about alternatives. Yes. But i know a whole bunch of people that wants this improvements! imagine all those people visiting the mainsite (and all the benefits jagex would get).

People don't want to create (and pay!) an off-site for their clan. They do it because they are forced because, sorry for my words, jagex is too ignorant about this.

My assumptions are not false. I've made plenty of sites myself and you may count on 4€/month for a decent site. And if you are going to creat it like a blog filled with adds (idc if you use adsblocker) and the lack of any good features... well idk whats the point in that

They SHOULD focus on quality control instead of spamming out more half produced content even if it does take years, thats what a good game does it perfects its content, it makes things functional, heck the sound on Runescape hasnt even worked properly for 5 years, its got a big reputation for how much broken and dead content there is and Jagex doesnt seem to care about that reputation and the fact that all people want to do is use offsite features instead of official ones is testament to that philosophy.

But they wont do because to Jagex its not about what makes the game better its about what makes the game look good.

Bottom line for me, if youre going to do something do it properly, if not then dont bother with it.
