Can we have the ability to leave a message or note for a member we remove from the clan, for purposes of giving them the reason for their removal, especially if they're not logged on when they're removed or are away?

On the Clan Chat tab, it shows this message when you aren't in a clan: ' You are not currently in a Clan Chat channel. If you are not a member of a clan already, click the link below to visit the recruitment forums '.

Maybe a button could be added there (or a field for text below) where they'd be able to view (if any) the message left for them by their last clan?

A lot of us have probably had to face the tough decision of removing someone we really liked because they'd been inactive for several months - it would be nice if you could leave them a note detailing why they'd been removed and how they could get in touch again upon a potential return, for example:

Hey, as you've been inactive for 6 months, we've had to remove you as we have not heard from you and don't know whether you've moved on or if you'll ever come back.

If you happen to return, simply guest in (clan name) as we'd love to get you added back if you wish to and are planning to be active again.

Thanks! :)

It would also be very useful for removals due to rule-breaking:

Hey, following your recent actions and behaviour, we've decided it would be best for you and the clan to take separate ways and as such we have taken the decision to remove you from the clan.

Good luck and we wish you the best on finding a new clan.

Ooh. Support for this. It would involve a lot of dev time, but it has the potential to do *SO* much toward assuaging any bitter feelings.

Might even obviate the trolls who troll because their egos have been offended, as a result of being removed and not knowing why, and then overreacting/taking things too personally

It's a nice idea, but as mentioned I believe it would be too hard to moderate so, on a jagex point of view, it would be a bad idea, drawing resources from somewhere else permanently. MrBrokenBow - Former Leader and Founder of

In the case of abuse--shouldn't these text messages be as reportable as in-game chat? I know that anyone reading a note explaining why they would be kicked is likely to be emotionally charged and trigger happy, but this combination--reportable messages and slighted ex-clannies--would result in two major effects:

1) Moderate messages by giving real repercussions to being offensive, offensive language as in outside of describing a situation (For example "You were kicked for calling this person *offensive language* describes a situation)
2) If you're the person writing the letter, *and* you care about the integrity of your clan and its reputation, the ability for your message to be reported by a trigger happy disgruntled ex should be motivation to write a respectable and professional message.

I don't think personal attacks in kick letters would be reportable, but screenies and social media are a lethal combination and that *might* be enough to discourage nasty letters that end up being too personal.

If free text is an issue I wouldn't really mind if Jagex allow us to send or attach standard, premade messages/notes instead, as it still serves the purpose which is providing reasoning.

Apart from inactivity or rule-breaking or just not being a fit for the clan, I can't think of any other reason someone would be kicked from a clan, and as such the examples above are enough and could be used and similar made into more generalised and standardised messages for use where necessary.

Another solution which also works would be to have a sort of a dropdown list to select from, like Reason: Inactivity/Rule-breaking, Notes: (list of predefined/applicable sentences)

The issue for me is free text entry, but what if we had a list of preset lines to give them? For example.....

-You have been kicked from [Clan Name] due to inactivity
-You have been kicked from [Clan Name] for a breech of their Clan Rules
-You have been kicked from [Clan Name] because you no longer meet their requirements
-You have been kicked from [Clan Name] for failing to cap at the Citadel
-You have been kicked from [Clan Name] for letting your membership lapse for a period of time

I like those ideas. :)

Having the message appear in the empty clan tab would be useful for cases of long-inactive members who get kicked and might not be back online to see the message for a long period of time, but would the message remain in the empty clan tab until that player joins a new clan?

If someone is kicked for rule breaking/breaking clan rules, for example, depending on what happened they might be online at the time and would see the message right away to know that they were kicked.

You made it sound like attaching a kick-reason would be optional though, so I suppose that probably eliminates most of that being an issue. :P
