Why do we still pick them up?

Analogic Orts. Received a good update last week, turning them into currency, instead of items, but we still have to endure the tedious process of picking them off the floor.

My question: Is this going to be the case forever, or will they be collected automatically?

Because I'm 100% certain Mod Matthe told us they will no longer be pick-able, here:

I didn't even know that buff existed. But if you guys read my thread, I did mention that Mod Matthe told us it is part of what will happen to Orts (in an update), and I'm just wondering if this is still planned or is it scrapped, because the first update didn't allow the automatic pick up ability.

Seems they chose the second option

Depends if that was an inclusive or exclusive or. Support for auto-pickup being a passive avatar ability.
