@Mod Maz

What do you think of the idea of removing the upkeep concept from Citadels? (and only leaving the upgrades costs)

Mod Maz, who has just left for her hols, and I have discussed this often, and also with Mod Moltare. In fact we chatted about it earlier this week.

Our group thoughts? No, no, no, no, no.... :)

We all agree that a tier 7 is meant to be something that requires upkeep and without it we would have significant problems design wise.

Then unless citadels are updated in a really exciting way soon, they are sadly on the way to becoming dead content.

They already are. Majority of people only does them because they got used on doing them, not because they want to, or because they are either rewarding or fun. I have only recently given a profound thought to the "root of all evil" that pushed me to going out of my way into recruiting in the early stages or our Clan...That Evil being the Citadel. And look at where we are now.......It is boring, it is tedious, more click intense than other content, and on top of it, much less rewarding. Why do we really bother?

The Clans are much better off without Citadels. The time, thought, effort investment in it takes away from what could be put in developing and interacting with the Clan's community, and all other different areas.

People do actually want to do them at the start, the building it part is the best part about it, its when there is pressure to continuously do it for the rest of your life where it becomes a bore and a pain for most clans. Upkeep isnt fun, building it can be.

I fully agree.

It is mostly a bore and pain for maxed out runescapers isn't it..? Not so much for medium level players?

And I guess that if maxed out don't show up in small clan citadels, the chores are put on less shoulders making upkeep more tedious even for medium lvl.

So perhaps, if the clanmate has all citadel skills level 99, we could give them the option to toggle between [experience] and [different reward (+exp)] at the Quartermaster.
Or a clan ring that checks level and skill plot when equiped. If 99+ > alter exp and enable different reward. Clan ring graphics exist already.

Maybe an extra surface world bonus/effect for any clanmate based on their fealty rank as well.

Would that make your time gathering resources in citadel, feel like something you'd hop over to the citadel for?

reward ideas; d&d tokens, thalers (minigame currency),
bonus ideas: ava buff enhancement,

This might be a good idea, cause many players stop doing citadel when they reach 99 in all citadel skills.

It's easy to forget what xp rates are once you're maxed, when people ask me for advice on what's best to train combat on these days i'm pretty much clueless.

The bottom line is though the citadel is epic xp for zero cost, it may be dead to the majority of us here, but not to normal players.

In future when everyone in the game is maxed will certainly need idea's like elf's, but that's a long way off

There is almost 43k players on the max total level. Of course it could be a combination of 120 Dungeoneeing and other skills slightly short of 99's, but obviously, all of these can safely be considered "high level" players.

Not surprised, considering the majority of players started between 2004 and 2009 so they'll be maxed by now. The older, high level players became the average players. It's not a good thing though.
