Hey, my friend just got asked to become a jmod through ingame, the jmod is JANEOFSHIRE they have the crown before name and here is the conversation between them atm
Jagex will
never
ask you to become a mod in-game. They will only contact you through your message box. The person in question is (allegedly) an impersonator.
What do you mean by crown before the name? Link doesn't work (out of curiosity, try using
imgur.com
to upload instead).
Only a
golden
crown represents a JMod (i.e. a Jagex employee).
Silver
crowns (if that's the case which is highly doubtful) are simply player moderators - I've noticed from your other thread that you seem to confuse the two. Other symbols that appear before a name are the
Hi, it was a silver crown but if you want you can contact msmeeca online, and they can talk to you and give a screenshot of the conversation between them, also they tried reporting the pmod but there was no report button option, and yes we know that jagex does not contact through game, only through message centre, but if this silver crown player mod is legit then it should be looked at, as i can see that this person is possibly, trying to gain the players safety that the player becomes a pmod by talking to them in game, etc then send them to a fake rs website, then bam, account hacked etc
If you get my drift. but this could cause jagex problems if not caught before lots of players accounts are hacked through a legit pmod.

Ah I see, to report issues that concern PMods you have to email
[email protected]
as soon as possible with the issue and photos and they would be able to look into it and take action if needed, since this forum is not to be used to get direct JMod support apart from clan issues.
It would be better if the player's name is removed as well due to the 'naming and shaming' rule (since there is no way on the forums to prove that a player is guilty of something).
This isn't really a clan issue, so your best option is to tell your friend to report the incident in-game because screenshots aren't acceptable as evidence.

This and this
Quoted those for emphasis.
And please don't take this personally, because this is like those times when a clannie breaks the rules and you have to chide them instead of casting a blind eye, even if it might make you seem like you're mean and heartless--it wouldn't be fair for one person to disrespect the rules with impunity, while everyone else doesn't have that same freedom.
It's also possible that the pmod in question got hacked. But if you have any further questions or comments, feel free to remove any external/off-site links, and usernames ("naming and shaming" isn't allowed to preclude slandering other's names in public), and recreate this thread in the Community Led Account Help forums
I would suggest that you post the name of the PMod account concerned on the "Flag a Concern" thread at the top of this forum, with a request that it be passed on to ICU for investigation - that way, someone can take a look at the account to see if it has been compromised (which seems very likely).
