I woke up this morning and made my coffee. Then I took my warm cup and cradled it in my hands. The thermometer tells me it is -1° outside. I believe I will stay in today.
I sit down at my dining room table and look out the sliding glass doors at the naked trees I have planted over the years here. What used to be a hay field is slowly turning into a small forest with all types of trees. The blanket of white snow has not sign of deer visiting last night, nor is it’s pristine surface broken by anything other than my small trees.
I know the wind is blowing. I can see it catching up the light fluffy snowflakes and watch them as they dance in unison across the field, locked in their own vortex, spinning and skipping, and finally disappearing from view.
The sky is so blue and not a cloud to be seen anywhere. I take a sip of my coffee and watch, as out of nowhere, a Cardinal lands on the top of my Daddy Tree, a pillar oak I got on sale at one-quarter of the price at an end of the year sale, four years ago. The little guy looks so bright and cheerful up there, his vivid red against the stark gray of the tree and the white of the snow. He has braved the frigid temperatures to investigate the morning with me, and has added color to my world.
There is life, and action, and color, even in the coldest Winter days. And there are moments we can enjoy the peaceful tranquility of what Nature brings us, and I live that moment now.
Another sip of coffee and it is time to start my day. But I will remember the snow dance and that bright cheerful Cardinal as I move forward.
I had a wonderful day and hope you all did too!

Sounds wonderful Shade, however I think I'll stick to my palm trees and sunshine. I enjoy cold winters and the snow however I'm not foolish enough to wish it over what I currently have

Seems to be a plague of flies about (No there's no dead body in the basement) just hundreds of flies everyday, everywhere, even in malls, there is no escape.
