sorry for the long post, but it needed to be asked. link: super long post

and with one of the overseers standing up for him 24/7, it gets really annoying to do things that are no in their favour.

previous experience shows if it rewards them, they'll pester until it's gained, and if it's not in their favour, they'll whine until it's fixed. right now, one of the overs is pestering until we reverse the demotion, BEND THE RULES and let lower ranks vote in a decision that is none of their business (if this was an admin, not an overseer, then yes he could vote).

*turns auto-siggy insert back on*

edit: we did explain that the admin procs warranted the action we did, and followed procedure to do it. if any rules were bent, it was me reducing the blackmarks he would have received to prevent me from kicking him!

edit2: he also tried to shame another admin higher than him saying that they arent really an admin and havent been one since they left the clan and went to another.
the one thing i dont get is, Apple has been one of the best admins we've had even if he is a dual admin in 2 clans. especially since SoA and PPoP are 2 big clans, and he works, and goes to school WHILE doing admin stuff for both clans.

it's almost getting to the point he's gonna get a warning for starting drama between the admins..

Be the owner and make the final decision. Sometimes you cannot be democratic and need to just do the right thing by the clan. If what you posted is true then it sounds like he is being disruptive for the sake of it. No clan needs or wants someone like that. I would kick him and block him from face book then explain to the clan what I have done and why.

I recently kicked someone who admitted to buying gold from a site. I did not have a clan vote, I just did it. (one of our clan rules is that every member has a say in what happens in the clan and we make group decisions.) I did explain what I did and why to the clan though. Sometimes the leader needs to take control and just do the right thing by the clan. Hopefully those times are rare though.

As Sookie said, I too would suggest kicking him/blocking him.

As a leader, you must do what is best for the clan, though it is often difficult and not everyone will always agree, as I'm sure you know. Sometimes this means deciding things on your own, without a vote, etc. Though I suppose that's easy for me to say, as my clan is structured as a 'suggestive autocracy' of sorts (a very wise person once told me of that term) . Everyone's opinion matters to me, and holds weight. However at the end of the day, as the leader, I'm the one who has to make a decision, whether it be small, (what kind of potted plants to have in our citadel) , or large, (the removal of a long time clanmate due to disruptive behaviour) .

Anyways, for me, being purposefully disruptive after being spoken to about it and warned, as well as causing drama on top of it, is not something that should be tolerated imo, no matter how the clan is set up. That's something that will earn a one-way ticket out the door. One rulebreaker/disruptive clanmate paves the way for others and sets the precedent that rules can be bent and that acting in such a way will be tolerated, which is never a good thing.

That said, all clans work differently. What may work for one clan, may not work for another. So I'll leave you with this, which I believe to be a rather important part of being a clan leader: Be understanding, but firm; and trust your gut. (I believe that clan leaders have good instincts on what should be done in situations, for if they did not their clans would have disintegrated before they even began) . So be sure to trust in yourself and your ability to do the right thing. :)

I hope that all works out and is settled soon. :)

So this started with the facebook group?
Remove his access from it? Groups I've used needed an invite from an admin to get in.

If the other overseer is getting annoying just point him in the direction of those who were there at the vote. Be rigid and don't give the impression you are actually considering what he's saying and stick to your rules. After you have made your stand he doesn't drop the whining then demote or kick him too.

Question is, what do we demote the one breaking the rules to? Admin procs says 2 demotions, and so down 1 from overseer is organizer. Then down 1 again is admin. However to get organizer, you have to be chosen by the overs to be a good person and someone that can fit the role of a liaison well.

Which means since i cant put him at coord or org, first drop is admin, then gen. (Either way, being removed from any leadership role will make you leave the admins team. Ie - if i broke a rule which warrants 1 demotion, i would go from deputy to general). So you could say im being lenient again and not dropping him twice.

Edit: this event will be setting precident. We have never removed an overseer from their position, nor did we expect to do so. Kinda our fault as an admins team for not hypothetically thinking of all the scenarios

sounds like tons of drama, effective in my clan when such drama occurs, EVERYONE that has a part in it especially high ranks are dropped to General until all sides are resolved to help prevent kicking and such. Good Luck :)

Hello and thank you for all the advice regarding Mej's post :) As Mej has stated above, we never thought we'd ever have to demote an Overseer. We've always had a good team (bar a few minor disagreements). So writing up a precedence for this in our Clan Charter evaded us.

The Overseer in question has been removed as an Overseer and removed from our FB admin group. For me personally that is over and done with. The issue we are facing now, is the other Overseer defending his friend/fellow leader. A phrase I try to live by to the letter (even kicked one of my longest and best friends in RS in a past clan) is "Don't let friendship affect your leadership, and don't let leadership affect your friendship".

This is the problem I feel we are facing with the other Overseer. Our predicament is we have always seen Deputies, Overseers and Admins (to an extent) as equal; as much as a democracy as possible. Leta's term "suggestive autocracy" is awesome, it's pretty much how I ran my old clan before becoming a leader of PPoP. I am definitely going to try and integrate that into PPoP as much as possible.

The other issue we are facing is finding a good middle ground. We want to be as fair as possible but firm enough without sliding into a dictatorship. I'm going to have a ponder over this tonight while I amend our charter. Our charter that I now realise is lacking a few required protocols.

I have methods in the works that will not only help solve our issue with the Overseer doing the complaining but will help the leadership team overall :)

Anyways, thanks again for the advice, hopefully we can resolve this soon.
