Does it only include updates related to the clan chat system? I can think of many updates that would be good for my clans, but they're not based on the clan chat system.
Would be nice to update friends chats too yea.
I was thinking about group content. Getting more options to manage clans is great, but personally I'd like to be able to do more things together with clan members. As I play this game to "play", not to "manage". Since EoC a lot of group content reduced in popularity (especially PvP), but even PvM groups are a lot smaller now (as outside of the high-end bosses, most bosses require 2 or 3 players). It would be a massive boost for clans if being in a group of players would actually aid to your gameplay (and not just through an avatar bonus). Combat is a major part of RuneScape, but why would you even train together, it's more often a burden than a benefit to have other players around you during combat. Clans are often build on teamwork, but does teamwork still have enough benefits these days? If we really want clans to thrive, then we need teamwork to play a bigger role.
You could tie in your teamwork with a better avatar system, personally I'm for removing the avatar and applying a worldwide bonus from a totem/obelisk in the clan camp. But you could expand that more by applying a multiplier to having multiple clan members together, yes that's currently what the avatar does with it following one member, but it could be even more prominent with some more types of buff side from xp.

I wouldnt specifically make benefits to clans for group play rather just make group games better and more fun, thatll encourage people to build and join clans more, the multiplayer aspect of the game has become damaged over the years due to consistent whining of things deemed to be "not fair" which has killed the fun out of a lot of group activity.
One example is dungeoneering, they killed this skill by making it more accessible as a solo skill, whole communities were formed around that skill being more of a group skill. Now most ppl just train it on dailies and sinks and dungeoneering clans are a thing of the past.

Agreed avatar is a horrible system, everything about it was just wrong from the start and Jagex are too stubborn to change/remove it. The improvements to it have been nice but it tells you something about it that these changes have needed to be made and yet we are still coming up with ideas to make it better.

Those are passive bonuses and don't even depend on working together. When I think about teamwork, I think about player interaction. With the passive bonus, there's still no benefit from interacting, there's only a bonus from being in the same world or proximity.

Clans are large groups, all the benefits I think about should apply on both. Clans already have the benefit of better communication and reliability compared to random groups. There's a wide range of benefits groups used to have, for example:
1) Being able to socialise
2) Get faster kills (more XP or loot / hour)
3) Saving food (having 1 person with tank armour)
4) Offer protection in PvP areas
5) Less risk of dying in a group
6) Less loss if you die
7) Easier to kill people in the Wildy
Nowadays these benefits are mostly gone:
1) It's very inconvenient to chat during combat.
2) Every regular creature dies in a couple of hits making attacking the same creature pointless (especially with the tag system).
3) All the constitution abilities, soulsplit & vampyrism took away the need for food and having a tank, plus point 2.
4) PvP is very unpopular, other than warbands there's not much attraction.
5) The risk of death is very low these days, other than a few bosses it's almost impossible to die.
6) With gravestones removed there's no benefit of having a clan member around to bless your grave.
7) A small group is enough to kill someone, making larger groups quite redundant.
There are many of those simple examples, and although they're all minor they do add up.

I'd love to see a social window/feed. Something similar to the interface where you access meg's cases but shows upcoming events in a user-friendly manner, recent promotions/demotions are listed, clan admins can post messages, etc.
