When Jagex released raids I knew already it is a team thing to learn and if we start doing it well and keep going our people would love it and we're going to win from this update.

But first thing to do was, our Teamspeak had constant row of people waiting for completionist cape back... god knows who... friends of clannys, friends of friends, some who just heard they we're actually teach them and let them take part of the kill instead of keeping at the corner with dummy and making to pay fortune. So it weeks of recomps. A lot kills failed and we had to retry, we even created Teamspeak rank like "stun pool pkr" but mostly it was just about dieing early or silly mistakes.

But we host full raid everyday now and still doing some wars, skilling competition every month, other random challenges and things. We still got our offsite forums, now ovwer 10 years old, with like 30 k posts there, we got Teamspeak we use everyday.

We got 2 awesome co leaders: Cyprusgirl, Folk Magnet and warlord Vladi.

If it was long to read, you see me posting walls, I can try to make it short...

First thing that can kill your clan is:

BOREDOM

Entertain your people a little in clan public events and channels. Involve them in to activities. Don't tryhard, expect them having their own brain and goals too. Collect information, see what they need. Give people easier and harder challenges.

Next things that kill a clan is:

FRUSTRATION

Keep up good mood and teams spirit. Life goes on, game gets updates, people grow up, people max their goals. They can drop offline. Should you kick them over it? I'd say, no. See how the things are going but don't sit crying over it. See what you can change and adapt what you can't change.

DISRESPECT and DRAMA

Drama can be part of entertainment, when it is rare and harmlessly small. Even little drama sometimes is better than boredom but I personally avoid drama, I don't want grey hair... I'll start working to avoiding conflict as soon I see first sign of it. But disrespect and losing trust between core members is end of the clan. That's why you should uproot all scammers, trash talkers and people who can harm.

UPDATES

Prepare your clan and help them get over it. You're allowed to get mad but don't go insane. Make sure your ranks got strong spirit. Don't let quitters be most vocal.

COMPETITION

If you see that your people say: I need to do Vorago, RotS, Raids etc and they say: I can do it at strong PvM clan it is a trouble but it isn't full truth. People can do many thing without joining theme clans. If your clan got anything special and charming you can still keep your clannys together . Good relationships, polite respectful communication is base for it.

Things that keep clan alive are...

RESPECTED and ACTIVE KEY RANKS.

Uprank people who proved themselves without rank already. Don't make a fuss when they got life, appreciate them still.

RANK PEOPLE with SOCIAL SKILLS.

Some people are smarter learning and more diplomatic. Forget the personal scores and achievements sometimes and see how this person can handle a group. Strong RS account doesn't affect anything without person behind it.

NOTICE and APPRECIATE

It starts from greetings and remembering each other but you can also make notes to yourself. Talk about good things, achievements, nice and memorable moments.

SUPPORT GOOD SPORTS, GOOD SPIRIT

Always and with everything you can. Silence the whiners, moody and depressive people if you see their voice gets very loud in group and they infect everyone. But support discussions, overall. Ask some smart people help with their knowledge, opinion and prognose.

And last thing...

BE GREAT
Be this INSPIRING, RESPECTED, BELOVED person in your OWN WAY.

RECRUIT PEOPLE who IMPRESS YOU and ATTRACT the OTHERS too.

I got Folk Magnet in my clan, no joke, it's a name of a co leader (:
And he was leading his own clan in past too.

He truly is popular. But his strongest side is skilling and organizing skilling contests, administrating the clan, keeping things in order, taking care of clan Teamspeak. He is great in his own way.

If you manage to recruit such a person, keep them happy.

Cyprusgirl the longest served co leader in Kirstunael is simply awesome (:
She is skilled many ways, not only great orgasnizer and respected host, she is also cute, fun and dearly beloved

I want to keep her happy, forever (:

Even if I sometimes critize one or both or someone else, I love my clannys and I hope they feel it. With such a people you feel so good synergy you don't need to force yourself to be nice and team, you feel like doing it and you do.

Iron Faery has pretty much nailed it. Sound advice :)

Just to emphasise the point of don't try to do it all by yourself! You really do need a strong, reliable team of people to work with who share your ideals and vision for the clan but can also bring new things to the table that you wouldn't have thought of and who you can bounce ideas off.

I know every clan is different but I treat my recruitment and assignment of Job Ranks within the clan very seriously, like a job interview really.

I'm always looking for people who 1. actually do care about the role and 2. great social skills. Levels and experience within the game whilst considered are never a deciding factor for me. I feel this is one of the key reasons why our clan has prospered :)

Was a good read from faery but the "make sure to keep them happy" just makes it sound like youre pandering to demands of people, hey it may work but it doesnt sound like you would ever truly be yourself with this logic.

It starts from yourself
You can share only what you got.

See, if you got happiness to share and someday when you got none, can you balance yourself? I apologized yesterday for not having my best mood before raids start. Solved some troubles 2 minutes before it. Team helped out with everything I was just nt.

I wake up with smile, normally. Only once in my lifetime I felt day after day very tired and moody but I was seriously ill then.

Life is easier when people got similar taste. I don't like blaclk humour, for example. Recruit people you sincerely want to see around. We got in clan few horror fans though, some who dislike PvP, some who faint when their comp cape is gone, etc, Np.

Clannys also recruit but all the recruits have to collect their 7 or 10 positive votes, reason why this person fits to the clan also needs to be posted with vote. It means the people who fit are getting in sometimes under 24 hours and some others waiting their 3 months and drop out.

With such a system happiness is easy because newcomers need to find friends, voters and do something nice and useful to be noticed good way. Join teams, raids, wars,. contests, visit Teamspeak, citadel, chat, check Skype clan group and forums.

If someone is rude or acts like empty spot they are not getting in and not getting clan member benefits.

Old members have seen a lot while years. Theyre just normally nice. We are not tryharding, One old clanny said its my second home, my online home, my online family. So, we can just relax and feel comfortable.

I work hard when I feel excitment, a challenge, something goood to achieve, then I do it because it feels good! Keeping key ranks appreciated also feels good. They are doing a lot, they deserve it. The fun and joy reflects back from each other, as the issues and troubles reflect too.

Synergy keeps things running.

I agree, let other people give their effort, take roles.
Makes them more dedicated. Good ranks ftw!
