Matthe, I'm really worried about something, because I've noticed a trend of things going on:

-Increased Membership rates
-Announcing no more support for F2P offence appeals
-Fewer updates
-Merging dev departments

Everything at Jagex HQ is going smoothly....right...?

I can predict Mod Matthe's answers to two of these.

1) Membership rates increased because it was, quite simply, time to do so. Runescape is already cheaper than many MMO's and has a large ftp section. To keep up with inflation/price trends, membership had to go up a wee bit.

3) Fewer updates is just an idea at the moment, and its not that we are getting just less updates. We would be getting a few *big* updates as opposed to several *small* updates.

As to whether or not there are any problems in house... that's another story but I doubt any Mod would be allowed to post anything even if there was. Think of all the chaos it would cause.

Honestly I think fewer larger updates would be better for the health of the game. At the moment it seems like we are having things crammed down our throat and much of it seems to be rushed to fit this "schedule'. I think if the players were forced to be patient and wait for some bigger and higher quality updates then they would realize they are much happier.

There are definite advantages to moving off of a weekly schedule, but whether everyone agrees they are valid is another matter of course :)

True there will probably be some disagreement, but as the CLF was reminded after the probation update Jagex can make any decision they feel is for the betterment of the health of the game right? While some discussion on the matter is very helpful and greatly appreciated by much of the mature player base, I'm starting to think that letting the players decide on a lot of these kinds of things is a bad idea. I think there is a large difference between letting players choose which update they prefer vs letting decide how often those updates come out. On top of that I'm starting to see that a lot of the people who complain don't even participate in the votes or discussions at all.
That said I personally think Jagex should just go ahead with the frequency change.

I know :) I skipped number 2 because I can't safely assume what Mod Matthe will say in regards to that, or the 4th point either. I have seen different Mods respond to Lisaa's 2nd and 3rd points though in different threads, so I am just echoing what I have read.

There are massive constraints and demands on those development resources - the expectation in relation to quests, minigames, or any other update we might produce are higher than ever and the requirements graphically and testing wise have only increased as we add more and more content and technology to the game. The development team is based around those needs size wise and includes 3 retention teams, 1 ninja and 1 community development team, all of whom are tasked to produce certain amounts of releases in order to ensure we have a full release schedule.

The discussion that has been begun is because a number of the items players would like, partial or full skill reworks, clan mechanics updates or more quests, all use more resources than a small or often even medium development slot in a release schedule can possibly allow for. Without a look at how we release it is never going to be likely we get more of those level of update out than we do now.

I understand this, but it still saddens me to see the trend that is happening here.

Hey all,

So I have setup a test branch in the office (christened 3.1) and in it I have re-added the "show in thread" button you have all been missing - apologies I just simply missed it when reading through the legacy code base.

We're going to look at a couple more features / fix a few more bugs based on your feedback so as always feel free to post it in the forums or tweet it to me and we'll consider any of it that is realistically achievable.

I know a lot of you were disappointed by the lack of changes to profile view. To cut a long story short the forums is a very old system that adding new features to is very fiddly (specifically anything that involves storage or vast searching of threads). This means methods such as profiling your favourite threads or adding a JMOD icon to threads where a JMOD has posted are very awkward to do. Whilst nothing is impossible we do have to balance our time with what is most beneficial to the business at the present time (something that Mod Rascasse probably has one of the hardest jobs doing). So please don't feel that we ignore your feedback we do make every effort to read and act on as much of it as we reasonably can :)

Hope this update brings a little more cheer to the community!

ps the JMOD spinning crown is still under debate ;)

For those interested, the quote above is by Mod Allstar, stating that the ''Show post in thread'' forums button will be returning after all. Also, any other feedback can be gathered there if anyone has a suggestion. :D

Went out of town for the weekened to my grandfather's place with my father. He had several dead trees cut down so they wouldn't fall on his house, but they were left as huge logs in his drive way. So over the course of Friday-Saturday we cut them into smaller logs and split them. He now has enough firewood to last him the rest of his life and that's no exaggeration.
The logs we split averaged between 2 and 3 foot in diameter and were EXTREMELY dense. The resulting pile of split wood is about 4 feet high, 15 feet wide and 18 feet long. Needless to say I have muscles hurting that I didn't even know existed.

We have to go back in another couple of weeks to do some more because we only managed to clear away one tree.
