Hello, fellow leaders!

I really need some advice, and will be paying close attention to this thread. I really need advice on how to recruit. Here's what I've been trying:

-I place our vex up in Prifddinas on our home world (103) which gets a new member every now and then.
-I bump our thread every now and then, but sometimes I forget (the link in in my signature if you have any tips for the thread itself.)
-I do go out and recruit sometimes, but after hours on end getting no one, I lose motivation pretty quickly. Usually I go around and examine people to see if they're in a clan. If not, I ask them in private or public if they'd like to join mine, and on the occasion that they aren't afk, they usually say no.
-Today, I stood by our vex on world 2 in Burthrope at the reset, advertising our clan, and also got no one.

Do you guys have any tips on how to recruit people? I've really been trying to get new people in the clan, but the vex and our thread are slower then I'd like, and new members are leaving just as quickly as they come. If possible, ways to recruit members at a fast rate would be appreciated.

Tip one: never tried it but i heard that by recruiting on forums under where players are looking for a clan, you post on their post and tell what your clan is about and make a silly joke and apparently having a joke or silly post gets them to join the clan.

A lot of my clan's traffic comes from people simply skimming through the skilling clan recruitment forum section and seeing our thread.

Things I saw on your thread that looked good are the headers, the spacing, the simplified and clear wording of things, even an index with working links; however, there are also a few things I noticed that I would change:

1. I assume red and yellow are your clan's colors, but people are really put off by red colored text - as well as that much yellow. I suggest using the yellow coloring and especially the red coloring a bit more sparsely throughout the thread, mainly as accents for headers and certain lists. White text is ok to have - it's easy on the eyes, especially against dark backgrounds.

2. The word "drama" being anywhere in the thread is a red flag for people. People associate a lot of negativity with that word and you want to refrain from making them feel anything negative (if able) when they're considering your clan. I would recommend simply starting rule 3 with "Avoid" and just cut the word Drama from that line.

3. The list on post 3, as to why people should join, should be the top half of post 1, in my opinion. Kids these days have short attention spans - so sticking out just the facts about your clan 1st is a great way to reel them in and get them to read further on. A lot of players out there become interested in a clan just from learning it has a t7 citadel. Let that information be one of the first things they see.

4. People usually only see testimonials from others if a product or service is being sold. Unless your clan is selling something then consider removing the 2 member testimonials that are posted on post 3.

5. I would align the application form to the left and number it. It makes it more obvious to people that it's a form for them to fill out. We had members who struggled with ours with their main complaint being it wasn't numbered.

That's about it as far as tips for your thread goes.

What CEO McCoy said works, but odds are slim if you're not one of the first few people to respond to those threads. A lot of the big clan, out there, have people watching that forum section like hawks to recruit those people as soon as they post.

^ I get what you're saying, but it's not like a Gold's Gym or something where there's member fees to pay.

All that was just my 2 cents. I don't claim to be a professional recruiter for games' guilds.

Place some vexes around in homeworld, let your clannies tell their friends about clan. Have a recruit topic on rs forum and maybe a good site, with extra things like teamspeak/discord/offsite forum.

And you'll be fine

Exactly why I don't even bother posting in that section. I simply do not have the time to watch that area of the forums as effectively as other clans. What I'm looking for is a method to recruit members fast, like at the point where I can log onto the game and recruit a few people when I have the time.

What are your thoughts of replacing the word "drama," with "trouble," instead? Would it make much of a difference?

As my clan doesn't have any requirements to join, I'm not sure if our methods will apply, but here goes.

On F2P servers, we try especially hard to recruit new and returning players . We don't recruit tutorial-fresh newbies, I make sure they have some time invested into the game before I personally go up to them and ask to join our clan. To improve our chance of success, I will place our Vex in a desired location, then wander to a slightly busier spot (but still visibly close to the Vex) and chat with people for a while. From there, I find out who is returning (There's always a few, on F2P worlds), and I ask them if they'd like to join our clan, saying we can help them get back into the swing of things.

On P2P servers, I look for any low-level players I can find. The rational behind this is they already have some investment into the game by having paid for it, so they'll probably stick around.

Couple of notes:
-It's been a trend in our clan that recruiting people at lower-ish levels has a higher chance of them staying than recruiting high level players. I assume this has an amount of "sentimental" value to the clan for them, because our clan was there for them through it all as they leveled up.

-When I talk about time & money investments to the game, I say this to refer to the likelihood of them quitting the game. Newbies who have played the game for a few weeks probably won't quit tomorrow, and returning players who plan on getting membership are probably here for a while longer. The same goes for low levels who have membership.
