Allow us to temporarily mute players in clan chat:

Temp Muting. Giving you the power to mute a clan member who needs to cool down is important. Nuff said.

This is NOT a promise of future updates. The clan core systems are very complex and quite inflexible; a lot of what we want to do may not be feasible. Please keep this in mind, we’d rather be open with you but we don’t want to be accused of breaking promises if things don’t work out.

This is on my list! Up till recently we didn't have this functionality available in the engine.

I am actively working on it! :-D

Good news and bad news folks.

Code for the mute feature has finished...however it's revealed a fairly major issue with the way the clan list is written, and it is breaking things. So I need to fix that before we can release the mute stuff.

Clan mute was added... and revealed a wonderful piece of code which has to be rewritten from scratch (the entirety of the clan list in your little side interface) - which is what I am doing in my TAPP time. As soon as this is done, I will pass it to whoever is willing to QA test it.

Allow us to create a 'whitelist' of members who are not in the clan but are allowed to join clan chat even when it is closed to guests:

Unfortunately this can't be done with current technology. It would need rewrites to the engine and thereafter clans script in the game to support it. :-(

Hover over a member's name in clan chat to see their job:

Hi guys,

This is a nice idea and I'll pass it on for you.

If these job titles weren't customizable which would you say are the most common ones?

I'm afraid your first suggestion isn't technically viable with our current clan incarnation. 2 I'd have to look into as I'm not familiar with exactly what the channel has access to data wise.

I definitely want more use out of job titles... and suggestions are most helpful, keep them coming!

Note: Suggestion 2 was to make jobs viewable when hovering over the member's name in clan chat.

This is a good idea! Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us. I'll pass it on and will see if this is something that is feasible for us to do. Perhaps with the New Interface System it is the best time for this idea ;)

There are very serious technical issues with this that make it highly unlikely.

Whether clan chat is off or not is a client side setting and is not information that is passed to either the servers or other players - to do so for all of your clan would add a serious overhead to the data transmitted and that would not be a good thing (tm). This means it is not something we would want to attempt without a serious amount of justification and currently I do not think it would meet that requirement.

The upholding of the entry requirements for the CLF and the moderation of behaviour in the CLF should be done more effectively:

09-Feb-2013 13:33:26

I will be looking into admission criteria and legacy membership of the CLF in due course, but for now, I need everyone to remember the position they hold in the community. As Clan Leaders, you are passionate and admired cornerstones of the player-base. With that level of visibility, though, comes the responsibility to behave diplomatically and fairly at all times. If a leader can't do this, they really need to think about how fit they are to lead and inspire a group of people. Being petty does not inspire, it just breeds further ill will.

So, let me just reiterate: if you have a problem with another Clan Leader, you will try and bring the issue up in a civil, non-emotive way with them in private. If this kind of diplomacy fails, you will post on the sticky I have provided where only J-Mods can seen the posts.

I am working through that sticky now and I have explained the delays on the Clan Service thread. Whilst any delay is not ideal, there are good reasons for it and frankly, it shouldn't require someone babysitting a forum section for it not to descend into arguments between just two or three people.

Until I have completed my investigations on the problems that have made themselves apparent in the last few days (and taken the actions necessary), I urge you not to post publicly about inter-clan fighting again, or I will be forced to give temporary forum time-outs to those continuing to agitate the problem.

I hope I have made myself absolutely clear and thank you all in advance for your cooperation.

Mod Drebin
