I find that despite having a massive clan a lot of players are content with just saying hey and just watching chat rather than engaging. Real conversation makers like organising group PvM stuff brings in more people so that would probably be the best way to tackle this issue of a decreasing amount of activity in clans (make a reason for people to talk, organise events, competitions, etc).

I recommend meeting your Clan Members in real life

I make really bad dad jokes and will spontaneously burst out into song (can't actually sing)

You say this like there is actual group content in rs3. Other than raids, there really is nothing for clans to do as a clan anymore. One could say citadel... but that has turned into a joke and not worth the extra 3-6% bonus xp. Osrs has loads of group content and that is why the few clans that are over there are thriving.

This outcome was fairly easy to predict. Its the result of years of continuous community splitting.

2011 was the official "Year of Clans", and marked the end of Jagex's largescale efforts to support the clan community.

You're forgetting November 2011, when Jagex removed F2P (and so my entire F2P clan) from the hiscores, causing a lot of F2P players to quit. I think that was really the turning point, afterwards RuneScape3 just kept going downhill.

Honestly a terrible decision, it was the start of a number of money making "gimics" in order to try and keep people retaining their membership, having to pay for homepage features is my equivalent of having to pay for sauces at take aways, you just dont do it.

I accepted it long ago. My clan is full of people that rarely ever talk because everyone is just afking (or botting, lol). Most clans are like this these days. But some people refuse to accept it and clan hop constantly looking for that clan where everyone chats 24/7 and there are regular events that actually have people show up. Unfortunately those clans no longer exist.

I've been hopping around a few osrs clans and I will say, it is very active when it comes to communicating with others. I've been also keeping track of the number of people on rs3 vs osrs and osrs on average is beating rs3 61%-39%. It is quite astonishing how the community on osrs has come together and have built on activities such as pvm pvp and skilling. Rs3 to me is a worst nightmare for clans and osrs has gotten me inspired and motivated again. I honestly love it.

also because osrs has a bigger playerbase now. osrs has become more popular than rs3.... I guess jagex realised that eoc was a disaster

Agreed, but I noticed in your signature too about bank bidding. I think a lot of the osrs player base got tired of the pay2win/spin2win. We don't want micro transactions or anything like that and if jagex ever did decide to put that on osrs that it would kill off that community too.

Problem is that there are always idiots who will buy all that Pay2Win stuff, ruining it for the rest of us who don't want all that shit in the game.

It is going to be like storage hunters, you don't really believe the things they got banned with are what they will be rereleasing in to the community
