I've been hopping around a few osrs clans and I will say, it is very active when it comes to communicating with others. I've been also keeping track of the number of people on rs3 vs osrs and osrs on average is beating rs3 61%-39%. It is quite astonishing how the community on osrs has come together and have built on activities such as pvm pvp and skilling. Rs3 to me is a worst nightmare for clans and osrs has gotten me inspired and motivated again. I honestly love it.

also because osrs has a bigger playerbase now. osrs has become more popular than rs3.... I guess jagex realised that eoc was a disaster

Agreed, but I noticed in your signature too about bank bidding. I think a lot of the osrs player base got tired of the pay2win/spin2win. We don't want micro transactions or anything like that and if jagex ever did decide to put that on osrs that it would kill off that community too.

Read about the bank bidding, its one of the most embarrassing ideas ive read, is it an actual thing?

Problem is that there are always idiots who will buy all that Pay2Win stuff, ruining it for the rest of us who don't want all that shit in the game.

I think this game now like majority of this generation of gamers are mostly pay to win players, for the rest of us we are becoming a dying breed.

I just find wasting money on this game pointless with the exception of osrs. Our generation is older and don't need our parents credit card to play lol

This outcome was fairly easy to predict. Its the result of years of continuous community splitting.

2011 was the official "Year of Clans", and marked the end of Jagex's largescale efforts to support the clan community.

Clans really began to be affected with EoC's introduction on November 20, 2012 where many players were driven from the game due to problems with the EoC system itself as well as Jagex's rather arrogant response to criticism and lack of timely responses.

A mere 3 months later their response was not to make common sense changes to EoC, but instead they held a vote to decide the price of OSRS. More people voting in favor of OSRS servers would lower the cost for everyone. (Not hard at all to spot the flaw in this type of "poll".) OSRS servers opened on February 23, 2013.

Some players that left RS did return to play OSRS, but because that has no interaction with clans (and even if it did, xp rates etc would be horribly skewed) overall OSRS only served to hurt clans further. For those of us that were clan leaders during this time, it really was a Knock Out blow to many clans, and those that survived did so only be intensive restructuring and rebuilding over the years.

Many clans not only lost people due to EoC's release, but then lost more players to OSRS about 3 months later. Since 2013, clans have really not had any special focus or attention from Jagex. Infact, the most major update to clans since 2013 was the implementation of the 7 day wait which was eventually repealed and replaced. There are some positive updates to speak of, but nothing major.

If we take a look at the updates to the overall game as many of you have already discussed - few are actually beneficial to clans. Minigames are dead except during Spotlight. There is very little in RS that helps clans.

Meanwhile, development resources have shifted away from RS3 to OSRS instead. Not to mention distractions to established clans like Ironmen, HCIM, DarkScape (RIP), etc.

Point being, Jagex has never focused on what made this game great in the first place. They've instead chased their tale with a long list of endless distractions for the dwindling player base and moneysinks just for the lulz (case in point - DarkScape). All these failures have been cleverly concealed by the era of Power to the Player Polls. In short, its not at all surprising we are at this point. I would argue it was entirely predictable.
