Hi Nin, nice to meet you; I'm Viv :)

By the way, I would recommend you create this thread in the regular forums since you'll receive a wider and consequently more responsive audience. Unless, there's something about clans or leadership in your suggestion you're waiting for someone to prompt you about. :p

I don't know how I feel about being people being able to see how many total goes I've played. I don't mind it personally, but I'm thinking about people who mighty get judged for it. I don't think it would be an issue, honestly--I doubt anyone would care enough, nor really judge someone for how much or how little they've played, but I wonder if there are others who would presume differently.

My opinion: it would be cool to compare hours played.

My verdict: not sure if it would be a wise implementation, especially if people starting to play runescape hear people talking about hours played, or if people will start making accounts to achieve "99 such and such in the shortest amount of time" accomplishments

I wrote this on my phone, sorry for the brain dump

Time played was an a-log feature but was never displayed to others apart from yourself - I believe this is intended for privacy and solely for individual use.

I'm not sure what you mean by compare, is it the hiscores feature? I don't know how it would help though.

By more data I assume you mean something which I've seen demands for a lot like 'last seen/logged in' - this was asked as a friends list feature and the response was that it would never be implemented due to security issues.

I guess what Nimci means is that people like to compare their playtime to their level as part of a competitive nature to say how well theyve done in comparison, for people like that to be able to display it on their rune metrics would be a good thing for them. Other players can leave it to default privacy if it possibly became a public feature ofc.

For me personally thats not something that i would care about having.

, for people just starting to play Runescape, if they hear people comparing number of hours played, even if jokingly, it might give them the wrong impression--that Runescape is now not only xp- and stats-wise competitive, but time-wise as well, and the latter type of competition is a bit more unhealthy.

I also really hope that people don't create pures to achieve the "fastest" 99, that "time payed" will become a new venue for competition. But of course, I don't dictate what people do with their time, and I respect what people choose to do to feel fulfilled, but I'm still a little concerned what sort of competitiveness publicizing hours played would introduce.

possibly but I think generally people who start a new game are pretty much too busy getting togrips with it, the interface, the actions etc to engage too much in conversation and beyond that i would think specific numbers would be somewhat meaningless to them to care also.

Its a game however, competitiveness should be encouraged just as much as anything else.

True that. Honestly speaking, I doubt publicizing hours played would make a palpable or even slight difference to Runescape overall, but it might, to niche competitive communities that sometimes I'm exposed to.

For example, I don't understand why people care so much about being in the the top 200 overall--I understand being in the top 50, because your name is pretty visible, but not so much the top 200--or even having the most firemaking experience earned in a day, for example. As such, I don't know how much people would care about "hours played."

Consequently, I don't know if being competitive about hours played would take things too far, and if Jagex should avoid people from taking it so far by not publicizing total hours played.

I know that it's not really Jagex's responsibility to preclude such things, but morally speaking it's something that really should be kept in mind.

Overall, though, it'd be really cool to compare hours played, and I'd personally appreciate such a feature. But I do have that nagging feeling that questions the morality of implementing such a feature.

I dont care about a wider audience just clf many of us use Runeclan http://www.runeclan.com/user/ninmci or

i can see more data in my Al and my Rm

http://services.runescape.com/m=adventurers-log/c=Wv0u-sid*mI/activity
https://apps.runescape.com/runemetrics/app/xp-gained/-1

I like to see how much xp players / bots gain in 1 day or over the weekend .

to me metrics has to give me the data i can see in our AL and metrics or we lose data

Jagex loves to take 1 step forwards and 2 steps backwards .

but its an ongoing project we dont/ they dont know what data the

final metrics will give us 412-413-149-65769092

I'd rather not have my time played be public. I wouldn't mind a compare feature that only shows who played MORE time, without showing the actual numbers.

Something I would find interesting is kills & deaths in case we ever get PKing updates.
