"Good" leadership is incompatible with time waste, unproductive practices as this one, so I think should we want to improve, this thread (and anything similar) need to leave. It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. ~Herman Melville

I'm not sure how removing a counting thread is going to improve clan leadership, Lucine. We're not CEOs here - and clan leaders deserve to have some time to have fun.

If we want people to feel encouraged and compelled to excel further we need to provide them with the necessary tools to motivate them to help them enjoy being a clan leader. The counting thread is a catalyst for that.

The people who want it to be removed are the same people who are saying things like "It's just pointless number posting," without even looking at the thread. Look at the last 5 pages: There's discussion that's taking place on this thread. It isn't just pointless numbers, it's conversations, it's discussion, it's bringing people closer on the CLF. If you take it away, nothing is going to replace it - not even the chat lounge threads have had the same level of casual talk and conversations like you can find on Count to 50. If you take it away, you lose a huge part of the CLF community.

So yes to the following question?

Clan leaders held in such regard as to be given access to their own private forums by the game developers have nothing better to do than to ruffle their jimmies over a single thread? Is it because it's a fun thread and that ruins the image of a serious "get things done" environment you've always envisioned the CLF to be ?

Biggest load of crap I've read in a while.

When you're active in the workplace as a leader/boss then yes, timewasting and generally being unproductive is unacceptable.

But being a Clan leader isn't a job.

Other leaders have different perspectives of their role and different requirements, I think you should take that into account first.

I come from a corporate business perspective and that's the life and lingo I'm used to so I can see Lucine's point. I would have re-worded it to basically say that "I prefer a different style of engagement" if you were offended by the post.

Everyone seems a bit heated with this topic and I honestly feel there are different avenues to being social elsewhere. I can see the intention for productiveness in these forums but a lot of these comments seem to just want something a bit more "down-to-business"

I find it a bit ironic that some can only look at leadership while accompanying it with the "workplace". Leadership exist everywhere, not just in the workplace.

I view this forum section to be about "serious" matters, and little else. If we want counting games, then there is a whole forum section for that exact purpose: Forum Games

It's basically a lounge thread with number spam in between. I don't see why we need 3 lounge threads in the CLF tbh.
I see plenty of threads in CLF that I really don't see the need in (Including some of yours), but I'm not screaming for them to be removed.

It doesn't harm anything. It doesn't affect you. It doesn't ruin your day. It doesn't undermine you or your clan. You don't have to use it. It means a lot to some people. Let it stay.

Maybe when Jagex starts taking clans seriously again we can actually talk about "serious" matters again. Until then please explain to me what good an empty forums is going to do for us.

The CLF has some of the hardest working and most dedicated people I've ever met. Clam has maintained the Jmod Feedback thread for years, Lissa actively seeks out issues and campaigns to champion, and let us not forget all the times the Clan Cup has fallen to the CLF to organize. The fact that we got the clan rework idea so high on RuneLabs last year is a testament to how "serious" we can be.

God forbid we want to relax and enjoy a game in the company of our peers in our down time, instead of with the monkeys down in forum games.
