Well... I'm out of options.

My name is paddy, and I am the leader of a tier 7 clan that is limping by. I'm the only leader (the current owner is there temporarily, he's giving ownership back to me soon once he quits,) and have a huge issue with my clan.

I can't recruit.

It's impossible. I have tried every method you can think of. My previous recruiter no longer plays, and I simply can't do it.

This past weekend (double exp weekend,) I though, since it was so active, it could be my big break. I took 5 hours out of every day, which I could have used to work on my max cape, and tried to recruit.

In those three days, I got a total of TWO people. One didn't even meet the total level requirement we have, I just wanted to feel like I accomplished something.

I need someone who can recruit effectively, efficiently, and fast. If I get only two people during the most active time of the year, that clearly proves I can't do it myself. I've done everything I can this past month. My clan is barely scraping by. People are leaving every day, and we are currently on our death bed. It's a miracle we even meet upkeep for the citadel nowadays.

I need tips on how to find someone who can recruit. Do not post tips on how to recruit, I've already done it. Give me tips on how to find someone who can. I CAN'T. I don't know if it's because I'm not maxed, or simply because my luck is pathetic. I would gladly give Deputy Owner to someone who is able to get a couple of members each week.

Here's the 2000th bump on my thread, by the way.

Don't try to recruit too hard. Let your clannies tell their friends how amazing the clan is.

Maybe place some clan vexes around in your homeworld, that helps often too

My clan goes through this sometimes. While we do allow anyone to join, when our clan is at a high point, we try recruiting P2P players and high level F2Pers. When there's a slump in recruitment and activity though, we just start recruiting everyone and everything in sight (except bots).

I'll camp Burthorpe and/or the Grand Exchange on popular F2P worlds ( not World 3 ). The trick I've learned is to not just stand there silently by the vex, but to wander away from it for about 10 squares and to converse with other people in the area. I'll also ask individual people if they want to join - there seems to be a higher success rate of them joining if you personally invite them.

But yeah, I think clan requirements should be secondary to activity for right now if you're really struggling.

If you have too many requirements a lot of time players will not join. Like a lot of clan require capping so that's no no for a lot of players. I think you should lower the requirements to join the clan.

Also do what LISAA said, I have found recruiting like she preferred a lot more accurate.

You can also use recruiting as an option to gain ranks in clan up to Admin. Like every 2 / 3 people they recruit they get a rank.

I havent had a problem on recruiting, but recruiting is not my strong suit, i do have an awsome recruiter and they get 5 or so members every day or 2. but i also do not have clan restricted rules to join, as i did in my previous clan which the clan failed over time.

give the players an incentive to rank up through recruiting such as recruit 2 members you get a rank up etc. make the clan fun as possible.

i was going to suggest maybe i could get my recruit player to recruit for your clan but seems you have restrictions to join.

i wish you all the best of luck on trying to get your clan back up and running. and who knows you might be just in a slump, and maybe things will start to pick up.

There's so many variables to this it's hard to address and narrow it down to your specific issue(s) to help. Could be your requirements are exponentially insane, or maybe just the world you're using. Perhaps the time you play. The quality of members you already have. The quality or attributes of players you're trying to obtain... It's alot of things.

Clearly you want to run your own clan, since you're not looking for any mergers here.
But I'm betting all you get is offers to join somebody else.
I can't see any leaders here being available to leave their clan to help yours being Deputy.
Perhaps they won't have to though.

I helped a new clan get started about 5 years ago, and they had alot of success for years, until their clan owner just decided to hiatus. Anyhow, the point here is as a clan Owner, you should know how to do the recruiting yourself, not expect somebody else to outsource the task to. That's kinda really elitist thinking and makes you seem kinda entitled.

I see this thread as: "Anyone want to help make my clan great for me?"...
It's not that I wouldn't help, but not with that kind of perspective on clanning I won't.

@ Zyphix - Parts of your reply were rather harsh.

Some people are better at sales, promotion and marketing than others.

In my own experience in previous years, we had a deputy owner who was very good at recruiting. She was able to chat in public in a way that enticed other players to give our clan a try and join.

Personally, I could recruit when chatting one on one at places like elder trees. But in crowded areas like the g.e. I'd not do as well.

Then there was another aspect of it, too. When a new recruit entered clan chat for the first time, members were so absorbed in whatever they were doing at the time that they didn't welcome the new member. That was a huge fail. Overall, the clannies weren't bad people at all. They just weren't invested enough in supporting the recruiting efforts.

This may be a result of society these days. We sometimes don't relate to others socially as well as we should.

Just my .02

To Paddyman: I've been down a similar path and finally arrived at the conclusion that I was beating my head against a wall trying to keep the clan going with very little help from anyone else. There came a time that I left it behind and joined another clan. I'm much happier now.

I wish you well in whatever decisions you make. Just remember at the end of the day, this is a game and it's supposed to be fun.

I agree with a lot of your points.

I'm personally very terrible at recruiting - I lack the patience for it, I'm very much an introvert, and it's something I'm very unfamiliar in doing. Our clan leader, on the other hand, is very talented and experienced in recruiting people to our clan - which is why our clan has as many people in it as it does. He's very social and outgoing, and loves engaging in conversation with people.

However, he lacks infrastructure. He didn't know how to set up a well-functioning Discord channel, his ranking was considered weird at best, and he had no idea that offsite tools exist for clans. That's where I come in. I am very much our clan's "Clan Tech." I handle XP/activity tracking, I applied for CLF access for us, I put in the leadership change when his HCIM owner account died, and I can track day-to-day members leaving & joining.

Neither one of us can do our job effectively without the other one being in the clan. If it were just me, there'd be no-one in the clan. If it were just him, the clan would be incredibly disorganized. My job compliments his job, and his job compliments mine.

A successful clan is one where the leadership can balance Clan Tech, Recruiter, Player Organiser, Moderator, and Citadel Overseer. All Paddy is asking for is for a Deputy to come aboard to be his clan's Recruiter, which is totally legitimate in my eyes. From what I understand, this forum has a lot of "Legacy Leaders" who may be capable of helping.
