@ Zyphix - Parts of your reply were rather harsh.
Some people are better at sales, promotion and marketing than others.
In my own experience in previous years, we had a deputy owner who was very good at recruiting. She was able to chat in public in a way that enticed other players to give our clan a try and join.
Personally, I could recruit when chatting one on one at places like elder trees. But in crowded areas like the g.e. I'd not do as well.
Then there was another aspect of it, too. When a new recruit entered clan chat for the first time, members were so absorbed in whatever they were doing at the time that they didn't welcome the new member. That was a huge fail. Overall, the clannies weren't bad people at all. They just weren't invested enough in supporting the recruiting efforts.
This may be a result of society these days. We sometimes don't relate to others socially as well as we should.
Just my .02
To Paddyman: I've been down a similar path and finally arrived at the conclusion that I was beating my head against a wall trying to keep the clan going with very little help from anyone else. There came a time that I left it behind and joined another clan. I'm much happier now.
I wish you well in whatever decisions you make. Just remember at the end of the day, this is a game and it's supposed to be fun.
