Obtaining a Champions Tacklebox is one of the main reasons why people play Fish Flingers, as that is a requirement for the

Trimmed Completionist Cape

To obtain a Champions Tacklebox, it costs a total of 500 medals, as well as 3,570 tokens.

Remember that you can only have 2,000 tokens max at once
You are required to purchase each Tacklebox in order before you can purchase the next one. Some people make the mistake of saving up to 500 medals and 2,000 tokens (since that is the cap) and think they can buy the Champions box straight off. You CAN NOT DO THAT.

The next few post will explain how to most efficiently earn Medals and Tokens to help you get the Champions tackle box the quickest.

A common question is whether you should buy the Champions Tacklebox first, or the Fishing Outfit

On average, a player not afking will earn about 30 tokens per game, and an average of 3.5 medals.

500 medals / 3.5 = 143 Games. (143 games for 500 medals)
3,570 Tokens / 30 = 119 Games. (119 games for 3,570 tokens)
143 games - 119 games = 24 extra games worth of tokens (24 * 30 = 720 extra Tokens)

Knowing all that:
If you are going for the Champions Tacklebox, purchase the Tackle box as you unlock them. When going for 500 medals for the Champion tacklebox, you will hit the cap of 2,000 tokens. This is when you start buying either the Fishing Outfit, or Fish Flinger tickets depending on what you wish to do.

If you want the Fishing Outfit early on, you can do that and still obtain enough tokens on your journey to 500 medals to buy the Champions Tackle Box.

Requirements

The highest score possible in Fish Flingers is 48. In order to get a score of 48, the following must be achieved within one game:

• Catch all 6 fish with the 100% Tackle,
• Catch 3 Big Fish,
• Assist other players with their big fish 6 times,
• Catch 130+ total fish,
• Catch at least one fish of weight 191+.

The biggest obstacle of getting a 48 score, is catching 130+ fish while achieving all the other objectives. To do so, you MUST QUICK CAST for the whole game, while being careful not unhook your own big fish.

Guide

This is just a general guide, and you are not guaranteed to get 48 score every game following this guide.

When the game starts, move to DOCKS and start QUICK CASTING as quickly as possible, switching to the 100% tackle as soon as it is called in the Friends Chat. Keep quick casting at the docks until you hook your first big fish. Once you have caught your big fish, you are unable to get another big fish for a minute, therefore it is best to use this time to assist 6 others at the docks. If you are struggling to get your first big fish, move away a few squares from everyone.

Once you have caught your big fish, and got your 6 assists, you will need to decide on the next step to take. People generally camp at the heaviest fish and following the crowd increases your chance of getting help for your big fish, therefore if HEAVIEST is at

Docks: If most of the flingers stay at the dock, STAY at the docks and continue going for your big fish. When the players start leaving docks, move on and grab your remaining tackles and camp at the beach for your last big fish.

Lake: Once you have your 6 assists at the docks and first big fish hopefully, move to the lake as that will be where the crowd is, and try to grab your second big fish here. Once you have your second fish, again if the lake isn't depleted yet and most the Flingers are here, stay and attempt to grab your third big fish. If they start to leave, follow suit and grab your river tackle, and camp the beach for your last tackle.

River: Similar to Lake, however this time once you have your 6 assists at docks, grab the lake tackle, then camp at river for your second big fish. Again, follow the crowd - if they start to leave river heading to beach, follow them.

Beach: When the heaviest is at the beach, it becomes a bit tricky to get 48 score if other Flingers don't cooperate with you. Following the group of Flingers become very important as most will head straight to the beach, meaning you will be forced to get your last 2 big fish at the beach, which will most likely deplete, forcing you to run back to the river or lake, losing out on some time.

Tips

• You only need a heaviest fish weight of 191 for a score of 48. Therefore, you do NOT need to camp heaviest for that 199 if the crowd isn't at heaviest.

• You can get 17 fish per minute quick casting, compared to 13 fish per minute fishing normally. Do some quick maths to see your own progress towards 48 score.

• You only need to quick cast for just under 8 minutes for 130+ fish. However, it takes about 45 seconds to run from docks to beach, giving you about 1 minute 15 seconds to grab 6 assists and 3 big fish.

• It takes a lot of practice to not unhook big fishes while quick casting. Don't give up after a couple attempts.

There are 2 ways in which you can go about getting the most amount of tokens per game. The first way is to basically go for a 48 score while trying to catch as many fish as possible. The second way is to just quick cast at the same location, however the max amount of tokens you can get for this method is slightly less.

The maximum number of tokens per game you can get is 46, however to do this you will need to get all the combos, big fish and 100% combos. So basically you will need to follow the 48 score guide while catching as much fish as possible.

If you however want to stay at the same location during the whole game while quick casting the maximum number of tokens you can achieve is 41. This is because 164 is the most fish you can catch per game and if you divide this by 4 you will get 41 tokens.

A 48 score with the bare minimum requirement of 130 fish only will also award you with 41 tokens, which is equivalent of you quick casting the whole game and ignoring everything else. If you are good at getting 48 score, and can catch at least 132 fish easily, you are better off going for the maximum score which also in return will give you more tokens. 48 score with 132 fish gives 42 token, which is already more than quick casting the whole game. To get 46 tokens per game, you need to get a 48 score with 148 fish caught. This is incredibly hard, but possible.

The number of tokens you receive at the end of a game will be displayed in the top right corner of the competition results interface in the top right corner.

Fish Flinger Medal Enhancers are a possible reward from the Motherlode Maw in Prifdinnas. They come with 20 charges. They can also be obtained by speaking to Wythien to convert an unfocused reward enhancer to a Fish Flinger medal enhancer (This will only have 10 charges).

Are they worth it???

Looking back at post 3.1 ‘Flingers Tips & Strategies: Obtaining a Champions Tacklebox’

500 medals / 3.5 = 143 Games. (143 games for 500 medals)
3,570 Tokens / 30 = 119 Games. (119 games for 3,570 tokens)
143 games - 119 games = 24 extra games worth of tokens (24 * 30 = 720 extra Tokens)

Summary: They are worth it for about 24 charges. (This amount will vary slightly depending on your personal average medal and tokens you earn per game)

There is no harm in using Fish Flinger enhancer though, so if you have it, why not use it?

Update September 30, 2023 -

"FishFlingers" FC has officially closed down and all Fish Flingers activity has moved to the "Ahelp" FC.

The main reason for this is due to the decrease activity due to the addition of Alt1 along with decrease in ranks monitoring in the FC. This has led to the FC being inactive majority of the time, and with no ranks to monitor if any issues do arrise. While this merge may some inconvenient for all, the ranks if Ahelp will continue to monitor things to make sure this transition runs smooth and adjust things as needed.
