===== Section 182: Arc Developer Blog 22: XP & Chime Rates 5 (Mod Manti) =====
==== The Uncharted Isles ====
As I’ve mentioned in the opening paragraph, we’re reducing the cost of supplies and the supply cost to travel to large islands. This means that you will be able to travel to uncharted isles and bring back more chimes than you did before, and so traveling to uncharted isles will become significantly more efficient than chopping bamboo on Waiko or fishing on Whale’s Maw.

Below is a screenshot of the spreadsheet:

The above shows guaranteed minimum (0.5 rare resource per small island, 2 per medium, 3 per large) chime return from the uncharted isles, taking ‘Supply Cost Reduction’ & ‘Commodity Sell Price Increase’ upgrades into account as well.

Maximum chime return from uncharted isles of different sizes (not counting common resources):

What does this mean for chimes per hour?

Note: You will be able to stay on large islands longer compared to mediums. Medium islands can have 2 to 3 resources whilst large islands can have 3 to 5 special resources.

As you can see, the chimes per hour on uncharted isles have been buffed, the islands you claim will now have even more resources and the XP rates have been buffed as well. Not to worry if XP is not your thing – there are many other rewards coming with this update too!

===== Section 184: Uncharted Isles 1: Introduction =====
The Uncharted Isles are a procedurally generated island exploration system that offers players the ability to discover new islands with unique configurations and features.

Players may set sail to the Uncharted Isles with their crew by speaking with Quartermaster Gully given they have enough supplies to venture forth.

Supplies may be purchased from Rosie on Waiko with chimes. Initially supplies cost 25 chimes each, but may eventually be reduced to 10 chimes each with Supplies Cost Reduction reward from Boni's Waiko Reward Shop.

Rosie will also supply the player with 5 free supplies each day, up to a maximum of 50 supplies after not claiming for 10 days. These supplies may be claimed by clicking on the crate next to Rosie's merchant stand.

=== Island Exploration ===
Voyages of increasing lengths require greater amounts of supplies. While longer voyages do consume more supplies, they offer larger islands to be explored.

- Uncharted island map (green color; from Deep Sea Fishing): Large islands with 4–6 special resources, cost 800,000 coins to buy at DSF
- Uncharted island map (blue color): Large islands with 3–5 special resources, randomly obtained while skilling, max 1
- Long Voyage: Large islands with 3–5 special resources, cost 20 supplies
- Median Expedition: Medium-sized islands with 2–3 special resources, cost 12 supplies
- Short Junket: Small isles with 0–1 special resources, cost 5 supplies
- Claimed Island: Return to your claimed island (place a flag on it), cost 3 supplies

If at any time the player needs to access their bank account while on an expedition, the player's rowboat, found where they spawned on the isle, can be used to resupply.

The daily special resources found on an island never change. The other features may change between visits to the island.

===== Section 190: About Me =====

Since Player Owned Ports release in December 2012, I have written guides on it, which have accumulated over the years/decade into an encyclopedia. Roughly 1 to 5 hours each week, since 2012, is devoted to improvements and maintenance for the many guides and hiscores to keep everything state-of-the-art and the highest quality. New sections and updates of outdated sections are constantly done over time.

I'm responsible directly or in part for many fixes & additions & improvements to Player Owned Ports through the years & expansions. Most notable:
- Sending ships without actually being in port - via Captain's Logbook
- Ports armor going to a charges based degradation like Nex armors
- Fleet Admiral title
- Seeing the XP needed till next crew level (XP progress bar)

I successfully pushed for the release of the Eastern Lands on the Power Player Poll of Jan 15, 2016 and received multiple Jagex comments on Reddit - it then overwhelmingly won ingame poll and became the July and October 2016 releases of the Arc region.

I successfully pushed 3 of my Runelabs ideas onto the Runescape 2017 Survey:
- Eastern Lands: Player Owned Territories (PvP Ports)
- Eastern Lands: The Skull Region
- Ports V4 Expansion
- Elite Sailing Skill (4th RuneLabs idea was rejected since Invention just released back then)
