===== Section 101: Farming Ancient Bones =====
1. Build 4 Jade Statues (+10% chance of trade good voyages).
Section 51 for details.

2. Build 2 Biologist icons and 1 Missionary icon.
Section 36 for details.

3. Use Terracotta Merchant (TCM; +33% rewards) on every ship.
4. Focus on the Shield region - After you send out the Shield region's 10 Ancient Bones voyage, switch focus to Loop region when rolling standard voyages. If you get/send Loop region's 7 Ancient Bones voyage, switch focus to Pincers region when rolling standard voyages. Switch back to Shield region when the Shield voyage comes back.

5. Max out crew/captain/captain traits (+4%) to increase success chance.
6. If necessary, wait for optimal crew and captain to arrive back in port before sending out voyage.
7. If close to daily reset or using adventurer reroll, do NOT check any returned unwanted adventurers until AFTER the reset/reroll.

8. Do daily random event (Barmaid, Seasinger Umi, Marketeer) you get for chance at adventurer reroll.
Section 16 for details.

9. Gather 13K+ Azure to trade for 15 Ancient Bones from the Trader when available (859 Azure per bone). Gather 21K+ Stainless Steel (1,375 Steel per bone).
10. At Fort Forinthry, build Command Centre (Tier 3) for +10% flat success chance on all Ports voyages.
Section 49 for details.

If not finished all trio storylines, send out Quin, Eastern Curiosities, and Guardians of the World trios out on voyages with captains only (no crew on board). Do NOT check returned ships. Keep 1 combat + 1 seafaring captain remaining.

This results in 3/6 chance (50%) for the Biologist and 2/6 chance (33%) for the Missionary at daily reset/adventurer reroll. Follow above tips for rolling standard voyages as well for amazing bones/day.

===== Section 105: Behind the Scenes 1: Ports V1 December 2012 =====
Player-Owned Ports is a massive minigame where you can build and manage the port, your ships and your crewmen - ships, sailors, captains and adventurers - and explore the realm of the Eastern Lands!

Building the port itself is a simple matter of creating and upgrading buildings by using the resources your pirates traders bring back from their exotic adventures. The better your port, the better the shipmates you attract to your fleet. The strategy lies in equipping and preparing your ships for any eventuality, finding the right crew for the job and choosing the right voyages to undertake. There are HUNDREDS of voyages that occur in real-time, meaning you can go back to the surface world and go about your normal business.

=== POP Thumb ===
Accessing the port requires at least level 90 in one of the following skills: Herblore, Prayer, Runecrafting, Thieving, Slayer or Fishing. Each skill attracts a different adventurer, who has their own deep, mysterious storyline to investigate, unlocking more and more of the fabled Eastern Lands. If you want to explore ALL of the content that the ports can offer, you’ll need at least level 90 in all of those skills.

There are heaps of new rewards to be accessed as your crew brings back the rare and elusive items of the eastern archipelagos. There are so many rewards, in fact, that we can only give a taster here:

New level 85 equipment for rangers, mages and warriors. These need to be crafted, runecrafted or smithed by players with 90+ in those skills. A brand new, 'highest-healing-ever' food type (90+ Cooking). New scrimshaw items that can be carried in a brand new 'pocket' slot, offering a range of skilling and combat benefits (90+ Fletching to make).

===== Section 106: Behind the Scenes 2: Ports V2 January 2014 =====
Set sail for the new Loop and Shield regions and claim hull-busting hauls of booty. Meet three new adventurers - the Trapper, the Architect and the Chef - and help them succeed in their eastern endeavors. Collect new forgotten scrolls containing recipes for a level 85 cape, ring and thrown weapons and craft them using your hard-won loot.

Experienced Portmasters will find plenty of adventures in the Loop and Shield regions of the Wushanko Isles - over 300 new voyages in total. On these voyages, you'll be able to pick up new resources - Azure and Terracotta - to upgrade your buildings and further augment your ships.

There are also new trade goods - Pearls and Koi Scales - to put together the amazing new high-level gear.

There are 3 new fully-voiced adventurers to attract to the port:
- The Architect: a serene, well-spoken lady who's looking to complement her earthquake-proofing methods with western building techniques. 90 Construction.
- The Chef: an errant gastronome with a penchant for experimental - and potentially toxic - seasoning. 90 Cooking.
- The Trapper: this mightily mustachioed big-game hunter loves tracking wild beasts - almost as much he loves polishing Ol' Bessie: his beloved cannon. 90 Hunter.

They can even team up for an adventure if they're all in port at once.

The Trader who's set up residence in your port will exchange port resources for trade goods - at a rate favorable to himself, of course. He'll have a daily special offer for you.

Finally, a new random event, where you'll help Seasinger Umi to locate some lost items.

===== Section 107: Behind the Scenes 3: Ports V3 January 2015 =====
Our main update this month is a huge expansion to the Player-Owned Ports, determined by you in the hotly contested polls last year. Agility, Dungeoneering and Divination will be the dedicated skills, so you’ll need level 90 in one or more of those skills to take part.

Perhaps the best part of the update though is the ability to send voyages out without actually needing to return to your port, making it really easy to engage with ports whilst getting on with ‘Scapin'. There’s a bunch of other smaller improvements too that'll really float your boat!

We’re introducing 3 crazy new adventurers – a mask possessing an eyeless man, a girl made entirely of divination energy and an exiled Gorajo weighed down by guilt, each with unique voyages and links to the strange sea monsters that swim the eastern seas.

New equipment available includes level 85 dual-wielding weapons: a Katana and Wakizashi for melee, and a Seasinger Wand and Orb for magic. There are brand new scrimshaws too, focused around fishing.

We are also introducing new “clue voyages”, which give cryptic pointers to hidden islands. Once found, these can be regularly visited for stat boosts, captain’s trait removal and the chance to find Tengu cosmetic gear.

Plus, you’ll also gain access to even more building upgrades for the port itself, which look really awesome AND can change your success chances on voyages.

===== Section 108: Ideas for Ports V3 Poll 1 =====
Mod Kelpie: At the start of 2015, we plan to add to Player-Owned Ports. What would you like the main focus of that update to be?

=== Pirate-Owned Ports ===

Build a pirate ship with your existing ship parts and then use it to attack other players' ships. A safe PvP version of Player-owned Ports.

=== Keep Expanding ===

Mod Osborne: If you liked the Ports Expansion (Ports V2) that was released in January 2014, you will like this. More adventurers, more locations, more voyages, more rewards, more resources. The skill focuses would be polled, so you could choose which skills are plugged into (Agility, Divination, and Dungeoneering won the polls). THIS IDEA WON.

=== Dive, Dive, Dive! ===

A submarine to upgrade and a new kind of voyage, allowing you to explore underwater cities. Includes potential penguin crewmates!

=== Unleash the Krakens! ===

Massive krakens appear as game-wide voyages available for everyone to complete. Players work cooperatively for a share of the spoils.

===== Section 109: Ideas for Ports V3 Poll 2 =====
Mod Rowley: The winning option was to keep expanding, but what does that actually mean?

To me, in terms of content, these things are a given: new adventurers, resources, upgrades (ideally ship and buildings), a random event (hopefully), trade goods and rewards for you to make with them. These are all going to be a part of the update (or at least as many as we have time to include).

What I'm more interested in right now is to know what expansion means to you in terms of Ports' story - The immediate assumption is that we would just add more island groups beyond the Shield, which would lead to even longer voyages. While that is one option, it does not have to be. Instead of expanding further and further due east, we could instead expand laterally. This would widen the scope of Ports and add more variety to proceedings.

Notes:
- Smaller additions also coming.
- The rewards will be equally good, regardless of option. Scrimshaws, port upgrades, spices and potentially combat items (level 85 magic and melee weapons, level 85 hybrid armor).
- Real-time voyages like always.

===== Section 110: Ideas for Ports V3 Poll 3 =====
=== Beyond the Shield ===

Okay, so maybe there are some really, really far out islands beyond even the Shield. They’re going to take a very long time to reach (20+ hour voyages), and they’ll fit in with the current structure of the existing island groupings.

=== Uncharted Eastern Land Waters === (Winning Idea)

Throughout the current island groupings are many secrets: ghost ships, treasure islands, maelstroms to alternate worlds, mermaid kingdoms (and, as recounted by Hubbub, surprisingly homely whale bellies). These could be discovered by sending out special voyages to obtain clues/treasure maps (like scrolls) and, once found, you could send a voyage to them to obtain new resources and trade goods, and potentially also unique rewards (ghost pirate captains, mermaid crew, whale spit, buried treasure, and the gods know what else). These would tend to be located slightly south of the current Eastern Lands map.

=== Acheron ===

If you don’t feel that Ports has to just be about the Eastern Lands, there’s no reason we couldn't let you send your ships in other compass directions to explore new lands. Imagine discovering more about the polar bears, penguins, seals and walruses, or maybe just viewing the Fremennik from a seafaring angle.

=== Inward Bound ===

Or if not north, how about exploring inwards? Gielinor already has plenty of islands that you can actually visit (ex: Karamja, Ape Atoll, Ashdale) and some only spoken of in hushed tones (ex: Fossil Island).

=== Pirates ===

In such an expansion, we’d explore the pirate islands to the north east – from known locations like Port Phasmatys, Harmony Island and Mos Le'Harmless further out to barrier reefs, zombie pirate forts and Rabid Jack’s fleet.
