This is extremely important for your eyesight

As a part of the graphic update on Monday 11th September the ritual sight was updated graphically. The well of souls (at the center of the ritual site) now has a very bright violet / white graphic effect similar to a bright fire flame graphic when performing the ritual.

This type of graphic is very bad for your eyes and will cause retina damage - especially if you watch that screen for long periods of time when you perform rituals for long periods of time. It only takes 15 mins of watching this screen to effect your eyes to the point where you will notice.

The effect you experience is similar to whet you experience as if you looked directly at the sun.

"Constant exposure to bright blue light over time could damage retinal cells and cause vision problems such as age-related macular degeneration. It can also contribute to cataracts, eye cancer and growths on the clear covering over the white part of the eye"

I urge Jagex to implement an immediate change to this graphic effect and to educate your graphical team on the dangers of looking at a screen with bright graphical flickering effects for long periods of time.

More information.

Most players when performing rituals play in "fixed screen mode".

This keeps the bright violet blue flickering flame effect to be in the same place all the time causing the eye burn problem on your retina to be more intense even for short periods of time.

Considering you have to play hundreds of hours ( as i was) trying to get to lvl 120 - before the update there was no issue effecting me personally for the many many hours i played there - since the update i can not play there for any length of time - as crazy as this appears i play with a piece of tape on my screen blocking out the well of souls at the center of the ritual site now just to get the last 2 levels.

How did this affect me personally.

Well after a session lasting only 30 minutes there i sat down to do a crossword puzzle and when reading the questions i could not make out the center of the words at all - they were fuzzed out.

This lasted for around 24 hours and thankfully was not longer lasting effect for my eyesight.

Most people are watching the screen waiting for the randoms to appear as this is where the bulk of the experience comes from.

You can watch the screen with MIN graphics settings too.

We actually don't have to watch the screen as often with Necromancy Rituals as we now have audio effects on many disturbances.

In min mode now the client crashes after around 15 seconds.

I don't have any problem. If you do, perhaps you should file a bug report or ask somebody for technical help.

You are missing the health and safety issue - if there is any part of the game that can cause you to have eyesight issues it should be removed - full stop.

It should not be left to the user to enable any mode to protect their eyesight.

The game should be programmed responsibly by people who have had the proper training to know and understand how flicker and bright blue lights effect they eyes of the end user over time.

This is standard practice.

Don't you realize RS3 Necromancy Rituals aren't the own place you need to look at the screen to play that feature?

I played this game for over 22 years and I am thankful I don't have to look at the screen to play RS3 for a lot of content. Don't remind me of old school time when I had to not just look at the screen all the time but clicked my finger off to mine coal or fish a shrimp.
