This is a fair simple idea, Remove the minimum amount of players requirement in order to engage in mini-games. (Lowering to them a minimum of 2players - 1 each side) (without a reward penalty)

Mini-games included:
* Castle Wars
*Fist of Guthix
*Pest Control
*Soul Wars
*Great Orb Project
*Trouble Brewing
*Stealing Creation
*Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza
*Heist

Why?:

While many games are semi active during spotlights, all games should be playable during non-spotlight moments as well.
Finding a group of people is more difficult, finding another fella to do it with can be easily achieved.

Are the mini-games doable/fun with but 2 people?

*Most of them are easily done solo, Pest Control would be the only troubling one since a group would make that mini-game especially easier (just like fish trawlers which is even solo-able if you are good enough).

*Definitely fun to even play it with 2 players: no risk of losing stuff, you get some rewards.

*The mini-games remains constantly accessible: want to play a game of soul wars?, get yourself 1 friend and you are game!

*It also breaks a vicious circle: failing the minimal amount of players is demoralising, the mini-game fails before it even can start in many cases (but when you can start at just 2 people, you can even start with 2 and later people are able to join... (1, 2 or even multiple people!)).

But imp! People will boost mini-games now!

-On contrary, with more people to have fun with the less need of boosters you'll need, one of the only reasons some mini-games are still played is thanks to booster Fc's (fast sc, to name one), It's about the only way to still "play" this mini-game.
To continue with the Sc Example you can still boost but can play the mini-game the way you like more quickly!

Boosting only option = the only way to play it? --> A lot of boosters
Boosting + fun/low player option = more ways to play it! --> Fewer boosters

I agree, though also think they should fix the reward-currency-allocation, to be based on playing-actions - at least in cases where it's simple to do so (for example: GOP has an easy fix, by making tokens be given out based on the number of orbs scored - something which is already tracked, anyway, and which would make it possible to do anything with the content, whether that be make it solo-playable [i.e: optionally 1v0/2v0], and/or updating the rewards to be relevant - after all, scoring orbs requires an exponential level of competence, the more you score, and ends up as hard as the hardest bosses, so the rewards should be commensurate, allowing for risk factors).

Even if you would force players together you wouldn't get them to play minigames. And no support for that unless it is ensured that the precence of other players never is detrimental.

Issue is the lobby system is horribly dated, considering what other games are able to do. A pure minimum to get minigames working would be an easy to understand and use grouping and queueing system - one that allows me to do something else rather having to wait in some useless lobby, that sorta was the way to got in the beginning of the millenia.

Only fix for minigames is to adjust the rates of tokens/tokens used in shop and buff the shops, add stuff to shops players don't like collecting (things only bots collect) or add xp lamps/bonus xp depending on the minigames type.

For me to want to do a minigame i would have to 'gain' something, and most minigames were lower xp than bandits/dhing monkey guards/armoured zombies/dt skeletons so needs adjusting as we gain way faster xp now.

Maybe even a new method for gp, loot boxes based on your skill levels (to bypass bots), without a reason no one will play but everyone will accept RNG loot boxes :P (just skilling/in demand stuff bots collect) and maybe add things to the boxes related to the minigame, castle war portal loot beams etc.

My 2 cents :P

That certainly would be a general purpose fix. They also should work more with unlocks rather than items that eventually are becoming obsolete. And of course overrides rather than item cosmetics you would have to pay extra money for using them for what they are.

But no matter what - the ability to start everything alone or with a friend would at least allow players to play it at all times.

the overall idea of adding new content/fruitful is great, love it. But will also require much more development time (new content, balancing issues, all the other stuff they whine about).

Which will result indeed help slightly but chances of failure, aka content that is hyped for a week or 2 and dies out again (unfortunate), is very high (look at heist, that gives insane amounts of bxp and is dead as hell).

While with a simple no minimum players you could start it at any time and just enjoy it, even for just fun and not specifically for the reward. I'd love hosting clan events there but from the second 1 person doesnt show up you are stuck in a lobby for nothing.

Addressing the lobby system (@rikornak). Same as above (development time), but love your idea. Making a minigame like Anima Islands (tuskas minigame) where you can use the grouping system to basically instantly start a custom session is great. Hower much minigames dont allow instanced "encounters" and are played on the actual world.... so great idea! but technically dunno.



TL;DR: out of simplicity for execution I prefer the removal of minimum player restriction preferable
