In his dying breath, the Ambassador told the World Guardian and their allies that his death would mean little and that Xau-Tak's arrival was inevitable."

Of course death means very little when Xau-Tak is the source of Necromancy. Lucien is dead but he can still come back. That's show us what's going to happen with the other "dead" NPC.

When Mahjarrat dies, they go to Erebus but none of them have come back and told their stories according to Azzandra who learned from Zaros. When Xau-Tak can send Lucien back from Erebus, we know he rules Erebus and is the master of necromancers.

The cutscene before the start of the New Foundations quest shows us why we want to build the fort where it is now. It was a very contested place during God Wars because there was some unknown power. It resonates with the "more controversies below" hint Jagex dropped us now.

There's a number of problems with your assertion, Dino.

> You seem to be speaking to Erebus as it is referenced by Zarosians as their resting place. The problem is, Death and Icthlarin have no idea what Erebus even is, and both are involved with process of death for pretty much every faith. Icthlarin in particular would lead souls to Erebus personally if that were the place dead Zarosians were meant to be. Erebus may not be a place where the dead dwell to begin with, so this probably isn't where Lucien ended up when he was killed. (Erebus is a Zarosian resting place according to Azzanadra, not a Mahjarrat resting place.)

> Lucien sided with Zamorak during the coup, which would probably indicate he wasn't Zarosian at the time of his death much later, and thus would not be sent to Erebus and instead would be sent to wherever Zamorakians spend the afterlife.

> You seem to be referencing the 2018 Halloween event's "return" of Lucien. This isn't the same entity. While Xau-Tak's power is involved in the creation, another component wasn't the real Lucien but a manifestation of him from Moia's nightmares.

Wherever Lucien ended up, he himself hasn't been seen or heard of again.

Now, I think Xau-Tak probably is Erebus' ruler. That just wasn't great evidence for it.

H I L D A, you are fundamentally wrong with Erebus. Dead Mahjarrat goes to Erebus, not Zarosians. Zamorakian and independant Mahjarrat goes to Erebus too when they die, but non-Mahjarrat Zarosians don't go there. They may go to Death's or Icthlarin's Afterlife or they get reincarnated into something else like Bob.

Xau-Tak probably doesn't interfere with the other forms of afterlife than Erebus, at least the lore doesn't specify so. However, he definitely have the powers to control non-Mahjarrat and undead from other NPC's Afterlife.

Necromancy is probably heavily linked to Xau-Tak's worlds of undead and his influence over all undead on Gielinor although he probably don't rule them.

Furthermore, we know Death got his job from Guthix because he was the first "person" died, and Itchlarin didn't come to Gielinor before the 2nd Age. Why would both of them have any says on Dragonkin among other unknown beings on Gielinor before the 2nd Age? Nope, they don't, not even Guthix. Some people or person in the 1st Age or before had this powers of resurrecting 1st Age NPC like Dragonkin, and they definitely aren't Death, Guthix or Itchlarin who were late comers to Gielinor.

I promise you, you're the one who's mistaken. It's Zarosians who claim Erebus as a resting place. Not Mahjarrat specifically. There's also no proof whatsoever that Lucien was there. Read the RS wiki for Erebus. When mentioned as a resting place for the dead, Azzanadra claims it's the resting place for Zarosians. Don't fight me over it, fight the Wikians.

Last time I checked Lucien was a Mahjarrat who died in the 5th Age, not a Dragonkin who died before Death and Icthlarin arrived. If the death was that late, than those two would know about the whereabouts of where that soul should end up. Neither of them have ever led any souls to Erebus. Again, fight the Wikians if you believe that to be completely false.

The fact of the matter is, Azzanadra believes Zarosians go to Erebus incorrectly, and while there is proof that souls inhabit Erebus you can't specifically tie them to the Mahjarrat.

It helps to not spacebar your quest dialogue.

The ending of Unwelcome Guests gives us a very clear hint. Zemouregal's attack from the Wildy is just a distraction. The main event which has yet to come to the Fort probably has a lot to do with "more controversies below" Jagex told us days later.

Fort Forinthry might be the resting place of some very powerful NPCs or artifacts in the past. That's why we built our Fort on top of it. However, we have yet been told what powers we can harness from it and how. Necromancy is probably what we need to learn to discover all those ancient mysteries and controversies.

First of all, I don't think King Roald was aware of the crypt beneath the grieving vale at all. I'm inclined to take him at his word that he wanted to fortify the northeast sector of his kingdom from Zamorakian attacks - (and off of his word assume that he wanted to make a general land grab that could position Misthalin closer to the ocean for trade.)

Secondly, everyone should take what they read on that Twitter thread with a grain of salt. Jagex posted that "more conspiracies below!" image as a reply to an earlier post polling players which of a trio of options (Penguins? a "Rick Roll?" Floor 62??) would be found in the crypt. The phrase "more conspiracies below!" kinda reads like "wrong answers only" - which is why many of the responses are joke responses.

Now, I do think a few answered it seriously, and even some of the joke ones (Dragon Slayer II's Vorkath.) have particular possibility given the surface knowledge of what we have so far. I don't think that thread tells anything that we didn't already know about the crypt before. It's important. The cutscene in the quest gave away that much.

Necromancy dates back to the First Age. Of course, Roald wasn't born then. The interesting thing about the beginning of the New Foundations quest is Roald doesn't start it, but a portal with a cutscene does.

Roald may not have any idea about the hidden powers underneath the fort, but somebody who created the portal definitely knows it. It has to be some ancient being or one who has access to untold ancient knowledge. The narrative is very similar to the introductions of the Monolith and Rakshs. We know from the Raksha livestream in ancient time, Dragonkin roamed the Eastern coast of Misthalin and we have been told the hidden Dragonkin Castle is in Daemonheim.

Necromancy, Archaeology and the Daemonheim Rift are all closely connected, along the east cost of Misthalin, where the First Age Dragonkin ruled Gielinor before they fell to the Curse of the Stone of Jas, and a few who left and evaded the Elder Gods like Vokun, Kronon and Taraket found their new lives from a black pebble.

Connecting all the dots from known lore, we should find a lot of actions from solving the mysteries of the untold pre-historic First Age of Gielinor from Necromancy.

"The spiral of time leads only to the gaping maw of eternity.

The well is guarded from interlopers. It will be the doorway"

The Spiral of Time clearly refers to Xau-Tak. Now that the well is guarded from interlopers. Hmm... well? Don't know if it is something similar to the Sunwell that was used to summon the Burning Legion in WoW.

The Dragonkin are heavily involved in Necromancy. It is not even disputable.

While some other races may have individuals related to necromancy, the entire Syrtes tribe of Dragonkin turned into Necrosyrtes after an untold mystery. We probably will get to the missing link when Necromancy comes soon. :)

Well... you know what? Isn't "unwelcome guests" another expression for "interlopers"? ;)
