As far as I can tell, the update was only a graphical one. That still leaves plenty of room for some of the content to be revisited in future updates.
As the colonisation theme is the main issue, I had an idea for Brimhaven to be redeveloped as a wealthy trading settlement built and operated by Karamjans. It could be somewhat like Menaphos but with a much less centralised governing structure. I don't think it would be too hard to introduce some backstory explaining that northern Karamjans realised that they could benefit from trade with the many travelers passing through and forged lucrative relationships with them. There would still be some pirates - business is business.
