Necromancy as a skill is overall a good addition to the game. But it isn't without flaws.
#1: forcing bossing
I have reached lvl 70 Necromancy now, so I can't complete Kili Row without doing bossing.
I never liked bossing. I don't like how long it takes to get one kill. I don't like how disappointing the drops are. I don't like how intense focus it requires. I like slaying, with easier and more consistent kills and drops. I never felt forced to do bossing, I bought the things I needed from the GE and that's that.
Enter Necromancy. You can't complete Kili Row without bossing, you can't buy the Hermod plates and you're forced to grind Hermod to even complete a quest. It makes me resent the skill.
#2 forced grinding
I don't like grinding. I think nobody likes it. You're not playing, you're working. But if grinding is necessary, you rather do it on your own terms. The Soul Well mechanic is boring, dull. You need to grind to get souls, and then grind to get points. Why on earth did this pass? That's not customer friendly. Allow players to get souls AND points how they want: the skill route through rituals, or the combat route.
#3 expensive materials
Rituals aren't cheap. Candles and ink are always short. I hope the price will settle, but I am not so sure. The way ink are made, stacking necroplasm, makes it unnecessarily harder to make and more expensive to buy.
#4 competition with prayer
I am glad I got 99 Prayer, because I don't know how I would train the skill if I had to choose between burying bones or to commune them. Prayer xp rates are already pretty bad if you casually bury them instead of collecting for offering at an altar.
Nothing to see here.
