it looks like every second you get 2-7xp then once the ritual concludes you get the remainder

this is how i worked it out so this is an example
so say you have a ritual that takes 60 seconds and awards 3000 experience, if you was to get 5xp per second over the 60 seconds you would earn 300xp, then you'll get a drop of 2,700xp at the end totalling 3,000xp

Thanks Werewolf, that's a good explanation of the mechanics :)

Am I the only one who finds necro skill to be an incomprehensible mess?
It's too complex. your going to have to dummy proof it up if you want high numbers of players to ENJOY playing it, you became an elitist Brainiac game and it's killing off the average player, I'll never learn bossing, it's too complicated and hard, I came to have fun and relax, not high function frustration, I want games I can dissociate and successfully play, and you are slowly removing it from the game. do you have small mans complex to take a fun and easy game and complicate it?
congrats enjoy your Mensa players, not enough of them to make a living? make everything super expensive and super hard, that will be 20 bonds sir .....
and as your old player base ages were having hand to eye coordination, arthritis which keeps us from ever bossing.
and new players? Wow I have tried and tried to get my grandkids to play this with me like i did with my kids, and they think this game is not as fun as Roblox and hate this game .
your killing the game and crapping on your player base as you kill it, such hubris

From this month's RS3 Newsletter:

"
Here's some fun facts about our first month!

Ashes value has soared by +311% and trades surge by 1794.48%!
Necromancy's XP Titans - Top 3 NPCs by Necromancy XP gain:
Abyssal Beast: 111B XP.
Rasial, the First Necromancer: 69B XP.
Bound Skeleton: 66B XP.
Hermod's been defeated over 10M times, 4,309 of you got the pet.
Rasial's fallen over 6M times and the pet Miso joins 2,793 adventurers.
Looking at the top levels brackets, 26K are levels 100-119 and 2.8K have achieved 120+ virtual levels!
The new Necrotic Runes have seen 850 Million enter the game and 123 Million used, the top use being defensive abilities!
The most common random ritual event, Corrupted Glyphs, has occurred 934K times and has been conquered 814K times.
Finally Necromancy's Grand Total: 1.8 Trillion XP with Combat contributing 833 Billion and Rituals 985 Billion!"

The numbers tell the story. Obviously, Necromancy is easy to learn with over 2.8k players already hit 120+ levels, with Harmond and Rasial being killed over 16M times combined.

You get smaller xp drops throughout the ritual.

I don't understand :P
How can you get the 6600 xp? Is it based on how quickly you finish the ritual?

No 6600 xp is the amount of xp that the powerful communion gives you for the output. But the reality is its never the amount of 6600 xp after jagex raised the output xp.

Ive filled the well with 262,143 souls but performing powerful communion it is still saying that 255 souls pass over to the well?
I was expecting a game message to say I could not pass over any more souls?
Or am I missing something (apart from my sanity ofc)

every
time I go to Um? Even when crafting the new runes the message pops up when I exit the portal. I
KNOW
its available but I'll do it when
I
want to !! I may never do it but its
MY
choice not the game's.

Please fix the Miasma pools so that the purple smoke is always present when the sizzling sound strikes. Or, here is how RS wiki describes it: "There is a chance that a purple smoke can spawn while the animation for one is already playing. When this happens, the purple smoke will spawn invisible and can only be recognized by its sound effect."

I'd like to be able to do rituals while listening to music or something but can't right now as it makes it too easy to miss the sizzling sound. Since this ritual disturbance provides the most xp of all of them, I don't want to take the chance of missing it.

Thanks! Also, thanks for adding the sizzling sounds since I kept messing up defile randomly w/o realizing what was happening. If we get the above problem fixed, it will make doing rituals more tolerable (sorry, they tend to hypnotize me, lol).
:)

Necromancy as a skill is overall a good addition to the game. But it isn't without flaws.

#1: forcing bossing

I have reached lvl 70 Necromancy now, so I can't complete Kili Row without doing bossing.

I never liked bossing. I don't like how long it takes to get one kill. I don't like how disappointing the drops are. I don't like how intense focus it requires. I like slaying, with easier and more consistent kills and drops. I never felt forced to do bossing, I bought the things I needed from the GE and that's that.

Enter Necromancy. You can't complete Kili Row without bossing, you can't buy the Hermod plates and you're forced to grind Hermod to even complete a quest. It makes me resent the skill.

#2 forced grinding

I don't like grinding. I think nobody likes it. You're not playing, you're working. But if grinding is necessary, you rather do it on your own terms. The Soul Well mechanic is boring, dull. You need to grind to get souls, and then grind to get points. Why on earth did this pass? That's not customer friendly. Allow players to get souls AND points how they want: the skill route through rituals, or the combat route.

#3 expensive materials

Rituals aren't cheap. Candles and ink are always short. I hope the price will settle, but I am not so sure. The way ink are made, stacking necroplasm, makes it unnecessarily harder to make and more expensive to buy.

#4 competition with prayer

I am glad I got 99 Prayer, because I don't know how I would train the skill if I had to choose between burying bones or to commune them. Prayer xp rates are already pretty bad if you casually bury them instead of collecting for offering at an altar.
Nothing to see here.

#5 lackluster xp without conduit

Combat doesn't really force you to pick a certain style. 2h, 2x or 1h+shield has pro's and con's but it was down to how you like it.

Necromancy does force you to use one style. Without the conduit, you lose access to abilities and conjuring spirits, cratering combat satisfaction. I tried killing dragons with a regular anti-dragonfire shield and it was so bad I quit. Same thing with basilisks. Even the Necromancy themed spectral spirit shield is useless. It seems you can only have a shield and conduit with the bone guard incantation. It's absurd.
Nothing to see here.
