My 2 cents on this is that people seem to want Cursed Energy to remain a thing, even though it's only really used by bots, because bots can do all the "hard work" of gathering the energy so that a PKer can then come along, kill them and get rich.
I have no issue whatsoever with people disrupting bot activities. If done properly, it can help reduce the damage that bots inflict on the game and it's economy. However, in this case the damage is still being dealt: the botted energy is still making it's way onto the market and devaluing Incandescent energy regardless of whether it's the bot, or a person who killed a bot, who does the selling.
Additionally, making money from bot activities is against the rules in most cases, however there seems to be a loophole when it's done through PKing bots in the Wilderness. They need to fix that loophole, so that profiting directly from bots is *always* against the rules.
However, the problem then becomes, if nobody is allowed to profit from bots, people would stop PKing bots, at which point it's the bots themselves selling more energy because their activity isn't interrupted.
So the long and short of it is, there's no way to "solve" the problem without removing cursed energy altogether.
Since we're getting an update on Monday which includes a means to permanently boost the rate at which energy is acquired while doing Divination, there will naturally be more energy entering the game from all rifts, including the Cursed rift. That's the point the problem simply cannot be overlooked any longer, so the best solution is for Cursed Energy to be removed entirely: all other energies will be easier to gather large quantities, so there's much less reason to keep Cursed in the game except to further devalue all other energies.
And removing Cursed gets rid of the "getting rich by killing bots" moral dilemma entirely.
