The bridge of the
Michalovce
bustled with activity. Helmsmen perused navigational data from the main computer, gunnery chiefs fed instructions to the turbolaser crews, the flight control pit was ablaze with chatter as the enormous hangars at the bottom of the ship organized starfighter launch formations. On the upper bridge, operations lieutenants gazed through the panoramic observation windows, through which one could see three fiery orbs - the main engines of the
Audacity
, hundreds of kilometres away - and hundreds of tiny lights darting around, the engines of the fighters, light cruisers, and transports that made up a vital, though often overlooked, part of the 2102nd Subfleet.
Ludovit Yermolaev glanced at the bustle through the window of the conference room before turning back to the table, on which three holograms were present, one of whom was presently speaking. On Ludovit's left was Alexander Brown, captain of the
Audacity
. Directly across from Ludovit sat the image of Rear Admiral Gert Macy, commander of the flotilla and commanding officer of the
Intenable
. Lastly, on the fourth side of the table stood the hologram of Ewan Kastner, captain of the
Inéluctable
, a modified K-2 frigate that had been gutted and filled with advanced hyperwave scanning technology. It was situated at the very front of the cluster of ships, and was making its final preparations for the hyperwarp jump.
Ludovit looked back up at the admiral, who was now speaking.
"All ships have reported in as ready. We will jump in fifteen seconds."
Several moments passed before the stars outside the windows elongated and blue-shifted, before distorting into a maze of swirling lights. The holograms briefly disappeared before blinking back into view.
