I don't actually "train" agility. :P Here's what I did from levels 70-98:

Effigies, barberry seeds, serenity posts, jack of trades, xp lamps, daily challenges

If a person doesn't like agility, that's pretty much the way to go, but it will take much more time than training it. :P

Well, I wouldn't say that they ruined the skill. If anything did, it'd be silverhawks, which were op when they were released a couple of years ago, but were nerfed shortly after. They still give a lot of xp, but not nearly as much. :P

wearing boots and standing on a pole is better xp then running the courses

and going for pure efficiency wearing boots and doing anything else is best way to train it

but yea silverhawks are what truly killed it for me. and skilling in general Old School
