She is, however, somewhat surprised when, the moment they exit the pocket dimension, they vanish in a puff of smoke and shadow, appearing by Pyro's side, as shown by one of Yuriel's many displays.
"Well," Jane says, raising an eyebrow. "That's new. Maybe I should have kept the Alar field up. Goddamn magic."
"I will never understand how you say that with a straight face," Yuriel replies. "Your god is
literally
Magery."
"That's Divine Lord Magery-sama to you, despicable heathen!" Jane says, a scythe appearing in her hands. The blade is long and viciously curved, and the edge appears in multiple dimensions at once to Yuriel's trained eyes.
"Put that away before you hurt somebody."
"Kid, you'd better check yourself before you wreck yourself."
"That's it," Yuriel says flatly. "I give up. Sarah, get her out of here. I have work to do."
"He--" is all Jane gets time to say, before she is suddenly ejected from the room, appearing in the last place Yuriel was - the Tower. "Oh, when I get out of here,
Agent Light
, you and I are going to have
words.
"
She strolls over nearby Duncan, scythe resting casually over her shoulder.
"So," she says. "How's life?"
"Do... I know you?" he asks, taking in her short, red hair, glinting emerald eyes, and the light dusting of freckles over her cheeks.
"If I told you, I'd have to kill you!" she says with a smile. "Now, I heard you had a bit of a demon problem?"
Then a sword slashes her in half.
"
This?
This is what they send against me? A half-baked abomination of flesh and steel?" Natasha's voice is as savage as her smile.
"Not all of us get lucky enough to become the living embodiment of an Absolute's will, missy - some of us had to
work
for our power."
Jane flows--quite literally, as the bottom half of her body disintegrates into dust--around Natasha's sword, reforming without a single mark.
"Aim for where her armour isn't!" the SADIST shouts, then disappears.
