What's kind of the process that you guys go through when you start a large scale drawing? Do you put in a bunch of periods and fill in spaces or do you just start at the top and work your way down?
For me, it heavily depends on what it is I am going to draw. I prefer doing detailed drawings as large as possible, but since the character limit is always an issue, I try to plan out my limit in the beginning. I first decide how wide I want my drawing to be, then fill up that line with periods. Then I copy and paste the line below to see how high I can make my drawing, until I end up with a wall of periods. I then check how many characters that is, and if it's over 2000, I replace the periods with ellipses. If that is still over 2000 then I decrease my width and height.
After that, I replace my ellipses into periods. I do this because I like to do my outline first and work down from top to bottom, while using the 'insert' button, that way my newly placed characters replace the periods. Once I have the outline, I realign everything and then fill in the details, again moving down from top to bottom. I prefer doing one line at a time because that way I have a reference point.
Hey all, in case anyone wasn't keeping up with Shady Nick's thread, they've created the clan
RS Forumers
to help bring back some life to the forums. I'm joining once my cool down timer runs out. If anyone else wants to join, it'd be great to have some more ascii artists involved.
Also they're interested in having a logo if anyone wants to draw one. I just sort of mentioned it so I didn't get details yet. Should I direct them here, or to the clan logo sticky?

Freud, I could give it a shot tomorrow when I have some more time. However, would you mind if I go beyond simply aligning it and also edit it?
For instance, instead of this:
¨'*- ¸ (which I just copy and pasted from your post)
I would replace it with ¨"*¬.¸
So basically I would just be smoothing things out, but keeping your general idea and design.
Sure! But I didn't create this... Not sure who did
