After around two hours the three regrouped, Teegan having recovered and been gathering more flowers. Teegan carried a garland of white and yellow flowers, Sukrae had a armload of bright red blossoms from the bush, and Taena led them both over to her slab, on which she had carved
'R.I.P Keppon' in slightly wobbly letters.
Sukrae handed his flowers to Teegan and helped Taena heft the slab over the opening in the rock.
After it was in place, Teegan looped her garland over it and sprinkled Sukrae's red flowers over the whole thing. It looked quite good, and if you didn't know that it was makeshift, you would have thought it was prepared by paid undertakers.
They all just stood and looked at it, and then Teegan began:
"Dear Keppon. We have constructed this for you because you are an exceptional person, who was willing to do whatever it took to avenge your loved ones. I honour you for that."
When Teegan stopped, Sukrae started.
"You did everything you could have done to avenge your wife. We will find and kill Kerr for you. You were very focused on the task at hand, never stopping on your quest. Few people can do that. You would have been one of the most renowned leaders had you lived, and I honour you."
Sukrae stopped, and Taena finished.
"What amazed me most about you was you love for your wife, and your staunchness while in pain. The whole time you were talking to us you were in pain that would have had most humans rolling on the ground crying, yet you bore it without complaint. Also, most husbands would not have set out to avenge their wife's death, yet you did. I wish you peace in the next world."
They fell silent, each thinking their own thoughts. Then, they all looked at each other, and together they left the burial site.
The red flowers swayed slightly in the breeze, and then all was still.
